Adding search engines
-
It is in some cases not possible to add a search engine using right click. For example:
startpage.com
ixquick.com
which both can be added that way in Opera 12.I tried to add startpage manually using https://startpage.com/do/search?query=%25s which was given in another thread in this forum but it did not work. Both sites offer a plugin to incorporate them into Vivaldi but not knowing what the plugin does I did not want to go this way.

That's true, vivaldi doesn't offer the context menu for adding search engines which use POST method, but Startpage is already offered by Vivaldi as preinstalled searchengine.

@ghpy
If you don't get offered startpage as searchengine by vivaldi go to
Settings --> Search -->click "Add New Searchengine" --> enter the following into the correct boxes:
URL: http://www.startpage.com/do/dsearch?query=%s&cat=web&language=english
Description: startpage.com
Optionally set as default -->click on "Add" -

On my system Vivaldi does not include Startpage. Maybe it depends on when you first installed Vivaldi.

Optionally set as default -->click on "Add"This is the method described in the post I mentioned. Doesn't work. Every search on Startpage delivers results for "%s".
Edit: It works, but only when "Use POST" is unchecked. In Opera 12 you have to have it checked. Bit strange.
