Address bar dropdown doesnot respect no to history option
-
Hi,
Good day! New to Vivaldi and the forum. So far just loving the experience.
A bug I stumbled upon (unless I don't understand it) is that even if I uncheck 'Show History' for Address bar dropdown, it still shows. Please see screenshot below. Can someone confirm this please? Or clarify if I am doing it all wrong.
Many thanks in advance.

@reddy.shyam Just to clarify - the flag is named TYPED history, so browsing history is still shown. Is it still displaying "typed history" for you as it seems to work OK for me?

Hi,
Thanks for getting much. Really appreciate it! Now what is "TYPED" history?
I typically do not want my browsing history to be shown in the address dropdown. All I want is to be able to select something from my bookmarks and not browserd history. Is this possible at all?

Maybe in the future, I placed an request here ... Comment

@reddy.shyam Typed history is the address(es) you actually typed into the address bar. It does not include bookmarks/links clicked etc.
To get rid of ALL history I believe we currently have to use "incognito mode" (private window browsing) - or you could delete the history yourself before closing Vivaldi (or when opening it).
More customisation is coming - but no timescales (when it's ready).

Thanks again buddy. Then the logic itself looks flawed as the history dropdown shows the links I have visited and not the ones I have typed. I don't type any URLs actually. Either picked from bookmarks or from search engines.
The reason I need the option is not because I am worried about privacy but to keep my dropdown clutter free.

That is correct when the option is chosen (does not show typed). As I said, for now we can't disable visited link history.

Thanks buddy for coming back. Lets hope it will get implemented soon enough.

I know this is old but coming here because i'd like to be able to hide all history and only access bookmarks - i find it feels very good to type out the entire address or search for something and then go to the site,
full history makes me anxious or overwhelmed. -
@lynlisten
Hi, if I understand correctly you want to show bookmarks only in the address bar dropdown.
Check settings in vivaldi://settings/addressbar/ there is a setting to exclude all except bookmarks.Cheers, mib
