New 1.8.770.9 does not start.

Hi, chromium-codecs-ffmpeg-extra is not in Opensuse since some month.
I had to install Chrome to get videos to work but no H.264/65 support now.
Btw. I deinstall Vivaldi-snapshot, delete /opt/vivaldi-snapshot and start new install.
Vivaldi start with some errors but is working.shell-init: Kann das aktuelle Verzeichnis nicht wiederfinden: getwd: Kann

(Can not access the parent directory: file or directory not found)Cheers, mib

Or do I have to wait for the Update of chromium-codecs-ffmpeg-extra?
That is the "strange" thing. It works for @dLeon without the codec update.
So it seems that is not the problem. I'm not sure what is.Only workaround I know is not to install the Snapshot (and keep using previous) or just run Stable for now.

@TbGbe Just followed the workaround of @mib2berlin:
I deinstall Vivaldi-snapshot, delete /opt/vivaldi-snapshot and start new install.
Now Vivaldi Snapshot drops a handfull errors but starts and works fine. Weird.

@TbGbe
When you runlocate libffmpeg.so
what its result?
Runupdatedb
as root first to make sure. The mentioned error about avcodec mean there's
libffmpeg.so
conflict.That shows
/home/(user)/.local/lib/vivaldi/libffmpeg.so /opt/vivaldi/lib/libffmpeg.so /opt/vivaldi-snapshot/libffmpeg.so /opt/vivaldi-snapshot/lib/libffmpeg.so /usr/lib/chromium-browser/libffmpeg.so /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/opera-developer/libffmpeg.so /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/oxide-qt/libffmpeg.so
Same question as above: You're not add something somewhere else don't you? Like using LD_PRELOAD environment.
No I haven't done anything like that (Linux newbie).
Edit: I do have Vivaldi (Stable & Snapshot) and Opera(Dev) installed.
I do not have Chrome or Chromium installed. -

I do not have Chrome or Chromium installed. That made me think.
Opera (Dev) is also Chrome/57.0.2987.19 and it does work!!So maybe Vivaldi Snapshot is just "looking" in the wrong place for the libffmpeg.so - OR there is a completely different problem with the Snapshot?
Maybe I should rename all the "vivaldi" libs - thinking they are from Stable aren't they ?

There's suppose to be no /opt/vivaldi-snapshot/libffmpeg.so. Try to rename/move it.
Yes, that did it.
Thanks for the help. -

Thanks for the help.Had the same issue on Ubuntu 16.04.2. Deleting /opt/vivaldi-snapshot/libffmpeg.so worked for me too. Thanks!

Had the same problem. Deleting
/opt/vivaldi-snapshot/libffmpeg.so
helped. Why is it there if it shouldn't be? Looks like a bad package to me. Unneeded files should be removed when upgrading. -
I also had the same issue on Ubuntu 16.04.2. Deleting /opt/vivaldi-snapshot/libffmpeg.so worked for me, too. I also remember that I likely put it there manually long ago, presumably triggered by a blog post by @ruario, which worked fine then.
Thanks! -

Actually, I'm surprised. All this time, seem no one with that library in that place caught the errors.
Up to now it worked, so (for us) there was no error to catch.
At least you caught it for us
-
@dLeon My memory might betray me, but I've got no recollection of manually placing the library there (or using a script) as videos always worked for me without problems.

My problem here with this snapshot is different.
Vivaldi opens, and I can open sites ONLY using speedial, bookmarks, etc, but NOT using adress bar.
Adress bar doesn't work, because for a few minutes Vivaldi keeps doing something in the background that I believe is related to the new history system. When it stars it must have to process and update something from the cache and becomes partially irresponsible until it is finished. -
