Old and beloved opera features missing
-
I really appreciate the browser, but it is missing some essential features that made me love opera web brower years ago. Thus, I really like quick commads, but it would be equally nice to have opera essential shortcuts, especially the ones which made possible navigating thru links without mouse /shift+cursor/. Also, I really the old Oold Opera's feature ure which made it possible to make full-text searches in browsing history. Chrome also used to have it, but I think a year ago they choosed to omit this really useful feature.

I also miss those features. I work in a school and a media-consulting-center for visually impaired children. Mousless computer usage is very important for us.
The old Opera was the only browser, in which the navigation between the links with Shift+Arrow-Keys worked. So we always told our children to use this browser. It was the unique characteristic for Opera regarding visual impairments.
Also the old Menu-Bar was very effective to use for our children. It was not only accessible but also very usable by Alt and shortkeys Finally it was very neatly arranged.
Additionally the fulltext search (Ctrl+f) on a website was easily to use. You could close the searchbox and navigate with F3 through all hits on the site. Also backwards by using Shift+F3. In spite of closing the searchbox the last entered keyword was still in it when opend the next time.
Please reimplement those features.Read also this THREAD.

We used to call that feature Spatial navigation, or "spat-nav" for short. It was based on 50% black magic and 50% clever maths. It is probably not possible to make something that works 100% of the time (even spat-nav got stuck in some very fascinating infinite loops).
I also miss those features. I work in a school and a media-consulting-center for visually impaired children. Mousless computer usage is very important for us.
Due to the way we build our interface (with web technology) there are some things that we get for free, and other (like input handling) that needs a lot of work.
We will be keyboard accessible, but it will take us a bit of time to get there. We allready have "Quick Commands", which I think has a lot of potential for keyboard users. Stay tuned, and don't forget to post in the feature request forum!

It's great to hear that spatnav will be returning. The basics shouldn't be difficult as the spatnav source code is already present and can be activated with a command line parameter. I do hope the algorithm will be tweaked a bit though, as it is currently inferior to what Presto offered.
And one essential thing is that when navigating by keyboard, you can actually see what is focused. Presto indicated that with a nice blue border but Chromium only depends on page styles, which are inconsistent and often hardly visible (light grey 1px dotted lines  ).
