Renault is on a roll with Vivaldi in two of their latest cars.
-
We are excited to share some good news with you! In the past few weeks Renault has announced two new cars - Renault Rafale E-Tech hybrid and Renault Scenic E-Tech electric. Your favorite browser, Vivaldi, is the only browser app available through their openR link multimedia system and can be installed via MY Renault app.
We have made the automotive browser full-featured and it has a similar interface to that on its Android smartphones. Even in these vehicles, you have complete control over how it looks, feels, and works.
As always, for safety reasons, the browser can only be used while the car is parked, but you can put on a good playlist or podcast and listen to it while driving.
Vivaldi is already available in Renault Megane E-Tech Electric and Renault Austral, as well as Polestar 2 and 3, Mercedes E-Class and CLE, and in the newest cars from the Volkswagen Group. The list keeps growing!
Check out some pictures from the new Renaults .

Do you see Vivaldi? -

However, I also assume that Renault uses a 'Google Android'.Or does Renault use an Android Open Source Project (AOSP)?
This would probably also be a unique selling point.

They use Android Automotive (AAOS), which is an OS specifically for vehicle dashboards. -

Thanks for your answer.Android Automotive (also Android Automotive OS) is an operating system for cars developed by Google.
In February 2023, the operating system was renamed "Google built-in" or "Cars with Google built-in".
The world's largest manufacturers (Toyota with Subaru, Lexus, Daihatsu) and Volkswagen (VW, Audi, Seat, Skoda, Porsche...) will not use Android Automotive or will only use the free platform without Google integration.
Hyundai Kia as the third largest manufacturer stays away from the project.
Stellantis as the fourth largest manufacturer group (Opel, Peugeot, Fiat, Jeep, Chrysler, Alfa Romeo, Citroen, Lancia) gave up a participation in October 2022.
BMW is also doing without Google services for its operating system called "Operating System 9," which will be presented in 2023.

This means that the "Android Automotive OS" is a highly insecure operating system for cars in terms of data protection.
One can only hope that an operating system for cars based on "Android Open Source Project" (AOSP) will be developed soon.
