What browser do you use and why?
-
Firefox - main browser because of security: NoScript and HTTPS Everywhere
Chromium and Opera Next - radio station, flash and web apps -
When Opera started to change I started consideration of other options. Some people remember my posts about it (my name was Cylancer, would still be, but i have some issues with the account). Speed test was a surprise, fastest browser was IE and only browsers that came near it were ones based on same engine. However, IE takes too long to start and Microsoft has an odd policy considering OS support, so I choose second fastest option, Waterfox. Waterfox is x64 version of Firefox. Most add-ons work same as they do in x86 version, with exception for those used in games ie. unity web player or BFH plugin. After some time, I was annoyed with bugs/features that existed in WF (and FF), so I eventually switched to Pale Moon, and i still use it. Pale Moon is as fast as WF but with better interface and less bugs. For those games and for x86 machines I use regular FF. Synchronization is no match to old Opera nor are SpeedDial or gestures, even with excessive use of add-ons (which affects speed). Also use Thunderbird as mail client (Opera still doesn't support yahoo!, or otherwise). And yes, i need to use torrent client. I got used to all that, and browsing is effective, but not so enjoyable as before.

Primary Opera 12.x: Speed, memory and tabs at bottom
Secondary Chrome/Chopera/IE: for pages like Gmail/Docs and Youtube where my Opera work too slow and with crashesOpera 14+ lost its soul. Hope Vivaldi Browser will have own but familiar soul

Firefox. It's the only usable browser (for me). Can be customized much and has working in ~all windows fully customizable gestures (I use FireGestures in place of dead Mouse Gestures Redox).

Because I manage some of google accounts at a time I have to use different browser to log to. So I'm using Opera 24 (25 on Ubuntu) Firefox, Chrome, Maxthon, Otter, Superbird. Opera is the BEST! First of all it have a superb plugins for RSS. It's fast enough, very intuitive. Mail client? I don't need it anymore. All of my mails ( gmail, hotmail ovi, ox.io, vivaldi) I manage trough web interface. I have only one grudge agains Opera. MyOpera mail!!!

I have mainly used [Opera, desktop] for the last fifteen years or so. However, around a year ago I started using [Iron, portable] because Opera [Presto] seemed to be having way too many compatibility problems for me, I got frustrated.
I tried [Opera, Blink, v.15], but it was too stripped down, no bookmarks, etc. didn't like it. Started using [Iron, portable] it had none of the compatibility issues like [Opera, Presto] did but yet had enough features unlike [Opera, Blink] . I liked [Iron, portable] better than [Chrome] since, [Iron] doesn't have the phone home security issues.
Last night I thought it was time to re-visit [Opera, Blink, portable v.21] again, which is what I'm using now and I'm liking it. Compatibility is good, like [Iron] with some of the niceties of the Opera of old. If it continues to be this good I may be an Opera user full time again, hurray!
By the way for anyone interested, I've never been a [Firefox] guy too clunky and hate [IE], too much bloat-ware from MS.

Since its early times, I’ve used Opera Presto. I was always pleased. I also used M2 though it didn’t develop enough to cater for my growing emailing needs (for email, I switched to Thunderbird and then eM Client and K-9 on Android). When they dropped Presto, I was in a mess. I didn’t want to switch but neither wanted to support data-gathering Googles and the likes (though I tried Chrome and IE), so I switched to Firefox instead. The time with Firefox was ok, though I was not really happy as it is slow in starting up and boggy on some pages with heavy content. Unfortunately, since some versions I have trouble with it on my desktop (Win7); eg flickering horizontal coloured lines appear, which I couldn’t solve. So some weeks back, I’ve tried out Opera24 and – to my surprise – was quite pleased. If you install the extension ‘Download Chrome Extensions’, you can install ‘FVD Speed Dial’ (via Google Apps store). I really love this and since I got to know it (with Firefox) I’ve almost ditched bookmarks. My needs for bookmarks are moderate (about 100) though. I have also explored the Opera bookmark bar and it would also serve my needs. I use alternative search providers (no Google) by assigning a letter to them and write the letter in front of the search term into the address bar.
However, I am still not sure – as Opera uses Blink – if my Opera transmits my private data to Google. Having extensions like AdBlock, Disconnect, and Ghostery installed, would that protect my privacy? Or is Opera Blink still phoning back to Google?
I use on
- PC: Opera Blink latest stable version
Why: It is not at all that perfect (as Opera Presto was) however, there is no better alternative for me as I do not want to use outdated and multiple versions; you can add all security extensions I wish and it works better for me than FF - Android/ CyanogenMod: Most of time Tint Browser (you can download it from F-Droid); Opera is not bad but not good either
Why: Tint Browser is simple and light-weight, open-source, supposed to respect your privacy, has an ad-block add-on, has a nice full screen mode -> best available alternative for me as I do not do heavy browsing on my phone.
- PC: Opera Blink latest stable version

In Windows : Firefox, Opera, Yandex Alfa, Comodo Dragon, Maxthon and Vivaldi. Opera, Yandex, Comodo and Vivaldi use so much RAM so now Firefox is my default browser now.
In ElementaryOS : Firefox, Opera, Chromium and Vivaldi. Opera and Chromium works well. Firefox usually slow and Vivaldi mostly slow.

I am using Maxthon Cloud Browser. I tha many useful features, well not so many as old Opera, but I really like his download manager, which will allways resume my downloads, reader mode, option to reopen closed tabs, good history manager with calendar view, split view, notes, integrated adblocker, RSS reader, screen grap (to take an snap of the page or any other window and then edit it, save or share it) and I also like the sync function (it can synchronize all my settings, bookmarks, opened tabs, files, history etc through Cloud into several devices). And I really love how it works with cache. I can preload almost any page and then open in even if I am without Internet connection. That's really cool and it would be great to see it also in Vivaldi

Opera 12.xx all the way.
-
I liked Opera 12 because of integrated mail, left+right mouse as forward, right+left mouse as backward and grouping tabs. Since Opera 24 (I guess) new Opera appeared in repository, but Opera Mail isn't still available for linux so now I use Firefox because feature "Don't load tabs until selected." and I'm still waiting for "Opera like" mail client
-
Opera from 2.12 to 12.15. I tried to stick with new Opera but couldn't, and switched to Maxthon. It's good but a little buggy - it can lose sessions or disable the back button, which makes me nervous.
-
maxthon, - best from opera 12 + many other cool features.
may be vivaldi is new alternative of maxthon -
I use Opera as the master browser for more than ten years.
Excellent is its interface and configurability, fast service - all at hand, love notes.
Now I have version 12.17, but I feel out of breath a lot of things laboriously sets both were previously (in version 11-9.2). Opera NEXT is for me a very bad joke…A few days ago I met Vivaldi - excellent - great new birth browser, thank you !!!
Remains to add a few features and will be perfect. -
I use New yandex beta browser, before yandex and 2 operas before chrome or similars
New yandex because of it has Turbo mode, extensions, a new face, transparency by using aero if possible, without bookmark bar. see below screenshot merging 2 version of new yandex with and without aero in win7 started and proffessional versions:
-
I use opera (chromium based) and google chrome because they are pretty stable and simple
-
Default Opera 26 Stable because I can't get comfortable with Chrome or FF (or even Pale Moon) no matter what I do. Still using the detached Opera mail client as my main email, BUT, I have to keep a copy of Opera 12.17 on line to serve as my MAPI client, since the new detached client simply won't let Windows use it as MAPI.
Am eagerly awaiting at least semi-maturation of Vivaldi so that I can go back to my old workflow which worked the best.

Safari. Because it is the best
-
Heh - careful with claims like "the best." The best for your purposes, on IOS or OSX perhaps, but I tried it on Windows and, for my purposes, it was an unqualified disaster.
-
Safari for Windows was never meant to be a real product anyway. It was also abandoned. But I enjoyed that Apple brought the OS X font rendering to Windows. But Windows users obviously do not appreciate that.
