Vivaldi cannot determine the size of the keyboard
-
Keyboard Yandex. All pictures refer to GBoard also. Forced to post full screenshots. Here is a screenshot of Vivaldi:
Only the top half of the text is shown here. It is impossible to go down to the bottom half.
Vivaldi is configured to show the top border of the input form., but it should be the bottom.
In Vivaldi, the "send" button is on top. This is a rare case. The most majority of forums have basic buttons below the form. They also needs to be shown.
Here is a screenshot of Opera
Everything is correct here.
This problem has been around for many years. It seems that Vivaldi testers never write more than 2 lines of text in their lives. Very concise. Vivaldi for thinking people and not for writers. -
@sphera
Hi, this is a bug but it was reported 13/Apr/23 04:47, nobody seems to notice/report it before.
I confirmed the report VAB-7315 2 days ago.
The keyboard hides the bottom of the text input fields Swiping up on the screen will not scroll the page.
Keep an eye of the report number in the next change logs, confirmed is not fixed but it gets noticed now.Cheers, mib
EDIT: I cant reproduce this on the latest Vivaldi snapshot (Beta) 6.1 with Android default font size. -
@mib2berlin
before creating this topic, I did a search for "keyboard". I have been observing this problem for at least 3 years. It seems that real writers do not use this browser . I am the last :). They are not part of the Vivaldi team.
Because exactly the same problem not only in some other forums, not only on the forum of Vivaldi himself, but also in the built-in translator ! So, the Vivaldi translation department is no better than the Vivaldi interface department -

This screens made in "Vivaldi Browser Snapshot 6.1.3035.4", Android 10. It has always (3 years) been like this, on all versions of the browser and Android .

@sphera
Hi again, do you use the default font size of Android, changing this to tiny/smaller create different issues in Vivaldi.
I copy/past my own post 4 times in a forum reply and still can scroll to the end of the text.
I would add this to the report if the font size matter, if not I leave it as is.Cheers, mib

@mib2berlin You are absolutely right, my friend! You found a temporary solution to this problem. Although , for me much more comfortable Yandex.Keyboard, I have installed GBoard due to this browser issue. Gboard has a rare "floating mode". Although I can do it myself. I sent finded
other people's scripts to Yandex and showed my site, where any element can be "graggable". Yandex a nswered that they are not interested . I was even ready to change Yandex , for the sake of solving the Vivaldi problem
But this is a temporary effect. It is enough for exactly 1 answer. Any change in the scale of the text (or the entire page?) works. Even a return to 100%. This is definitely a problem, because changing the scale every time is impossible. -
@sphera
I have to ask again, do you change the scale in Vivaldi or in the Android settings?
Some user even change the resolution of the smart phone to such high levels Vivaldi change to the tablet mode and than report errors. Such bug reports get rejected very quick.
Change the font size on OS level should not influence Vivaldi but it does for some cases.Cheers, mib

@mib2berlin I changed the font in the browser. This should be done every time , every answer, when entering the form. This is not normal browser behavior. Vivaldi emphasizes only the form of text input. This is also wrong. The page should rise above the keyboard entirely, with the form and what is below it, to the bottom border of the page itself.

@sphera
I guess this is a different bug but fixing VAB-7315 should solve the issue you cant see/scroll to the last line of text.
I fear this will not happen for Vivaldi 6.1, the first release candidate was published Yesterday.Cheers, mib

Can confirm this issue on Android 11. Although It doesn't occur all of the time for some reason.
(I've changed the system font)

I don't even know where the font change is located. I don't do small android settings. There is a change in the overall scale of the desktop. I checked on both — minimal and standard. Identically. Here is a more illustrative example. It is impossible to register on the forum. The button under the keyboard. Because the designer decided that the most important thing on any page is the input form. He forgot that there can be many forms, and the submit button can be far at the bottom of the page.
Imagine a store's website, a selection of clothes. There are hundreds of these input fields. And Vivaldi will definitely not show the button at the bottom.
Again this forced comfort. There is no need to fix the page, I will find where to enter the characters myself, and how to send them. Maybe it's easier. The browser should simply add the height of the keyboard to the height of the entire site. Nothing complicated.

It's even funnier and sud that this is the same problem on this forum.
Android 10.
I can even install 12 Android . But it doesn't make any changes.
I recordered even video, at this forum.the designer really needs an upper bound . Even I don't need it, but he does.
I looked at what I had already written about that. Bugs have been hanging for so long that not only the author of text forgets about it, but also authors of browser :).
@Shpankov asked for bug reports. It turns out that this is an unknown problem.

@sphera
Hi, in this forum the send button is on the top of the page but I cant reproduce it in other forums.This is with Yandex board and Android font set to XXS.
Can you add a link to a Englisch forum this happen, please.
I will make an account to test it there.Cheers, mib

Did you tried to scroll this page up? The "Send" button will be visible.

@Shpankov show screen from your Vivaldi for Android

In my Mobile I use a floating keyboard because of this, as workarround until it's fixed.

The browser doesn't have to keep track of my input fields. Its task is to show the ENTIRE Page, with the necessary fields and unnecessary pictures and text. If there is important information in the picture, how do I describe it? And if I need a page title ? How do I copy it ?
If I put the cursor in the input field, the keyboard has risen - there is no need to help me and keep the input form in front of my eyes. The cursor is already in the input field, it does not go anywhere from there. This is the end of the browser's help. It should show the entire page. A simple requirement.
It is shown above that Opera does not have these problems. -
@Catweazle Write your android version. Have you performed any actions to change the standard Android settings to change the existing situation?
