i get this on facebook after a few posts and only in vivaldi, for some time now. I tried disabling all add-ons and spoofing user agent, nothing helps.
On my desktop as well as the laptop.

@planetdance Any extensions running?, could interfere with FB.
Or it is a server-sided issue at Meta for some users or countries.

            Please check Troubleshooting issues.

@planetdance Disabling extensions is not the same as with no extensions.

Had you tried Manage Users with Guest Profile or a new test profile?

@planetdance Hello, I have forked this off from the Snapshots topic. The Snapshots topic is not really the place for long troubleshooting threads as it will be closed once a new Snapshot is out.

Please post your OS and Vivaldi version here from Help > About.

Test all the troubleshooting steps, including testing in a clean profile.

@DoctorG thanks again, it doesn't seem to happen in a guest profile. What's the best thing to do now? If i start a new profile, do i loose passwords etc?

@planetdance Posting works, i do not have such issue on Facebook. Can not reproduce 6.0.2979.18 Win 11 22H2. Had 7 posts for one of my pages and nothing went wrong.

Where do you post? On your own pages?

                        Yes.

Do you use Vivaldi Mail, Feeds and Calendar?
If not there is a way to export logins and copy most files to a fresh profile.

@planetdance OK first of all, why do you have all those experimental flags set?

                                Like disable-prompt-on-repost ?

"Normally when the user attempts to navigate to a page that was the result of a post we prompt to make sure they want to. This switch may be used to disable that check. This switch is used during automated testing. โ†ช"
                                https://peter.sh/experiments/chromium-command-line-switches/#disable-prompt-on-repost

And it does not look correct: -disable-prompt-on-repost,,min
There should be two -- and ,,min does not belong there.

allow-file-access-from-files is only for web developers and only if they use file:// urls in their HTML, which is bad practice anyway.

Please click "Reset all" in vivaldi://flags and restart the browser first.

If i start a new profile, do i loose passwords etc?

Testing in a new profile is temporary. Just create a new profile, login to Facebook and try to reproduce the problem by making some test posts.

@Pathduck thanks, i removed those flags, can't even remember why i had them, only i need allow-file-access for local html.
In the flags i left password import and media keys enabled on.

There's a misunderstanding, the error on facebook is not related to posting, it just shows up when scrolling through the posts.

Are your HTML files using file:// URIs? If not you do not need this.

"By default, file:// URIs cannot read other file:// URIs. This is an override for developers who need the old behavior for testing."
                                    https://peter.sh/experiments/chromium-command-line-switches/#allow-file-access-from-files

In the flags i left password import and media keys enabled on.

The flag #hardware-media-key-handling is set to Enabled by default. Set to Disabled if you want it different.

The whole point of resetting flags is testing with as little changes done to your installation as possible. That's why all flags should be reset, then you can test.

Same with disabling extensions - you disable them, restart the browser, then test again.

You already tested in a Guest profile, which is almost a good test as a clean profile, and it "doesn't seem to happen in a guest profile". So that's a clear indication something in your current profile is causing this. It could be extensions, cache, cookies or something else.

Your last option is to clear out your profile completely and start from scratch, that's what we're trying to avoid by making you do these things.

@Pathduck on my laptop i was able to add a new profile, then sync to my desktop to get password and bookmarks. The error on facebook is gone there.
On my desktop, if i want to add a new profile and click on sign in, i get a 404 with a google picture, 'the requested url was not found, that's all we know'.

Have you followed the guide for creating a new profile?
                                          https://help.vivaldi.com/desktop/tools/user-profiles/

A new profile should not prompt for anything, it's a clean slate.

As always a screenshot of any error message might explain things better. I do not understand what a "404 with a google picture" is.
