@barbudo2005
Hi, I answer these questions at the end and I can write how I use them.
I have 8 news pages I read daily, before workspaces I have them in a speed dial folder.
Open 8 tabs with the news, create a workspace > a dialogue open to ask you if you use open tabs for the new workspace > Yes > name it > ready.
You can add a tab to any workspace with move, or add a link:- As you mention, several windows in one Vivaldi instance (My view)
- Context menu
- You need the selecor to choose a workspace
Cheers, mib

Finally workspace is here. This is life changing. I've no use case to open another browser alongside Vivaldi anymore.
If only Vivaldi can provide an option to lump the workspace button together with other sidebar items or alongside the extension icon like 'reading list", that will be great. As it stands, workspace button is an odd ball sitting all the way to the top left-hand-side by itself. I'm not complaining though! The function works! -
@andydelz on Panel use context menu → Customize Toolbar, in editor select Navigation bar from dropdown, drag the Workspace button into panel bar an confirm with Done.
-
I would be interested to know if it is possible to save workspaces with some tabs.
E.g. @barbudo2005's 8 news pages. If he reads these pages daily, it would be nice if they remain saved in the workspace as long as the tabs are not deleted.But at the moment every workspace is empty after starting Vivaldi.

@Dancer18
Hi, not for me, I use it all day with 2 or 3 workspaces.
If tabs are not remembered it would be useless for me.
Do you use latest stable?Vivaldi 5.8.2936.3, snapshot.
Cheers, mib
-
@mib2berlin I am using the current stable and snapshot.
But unfortunately the tabs of the workspaces are gone when I start Vivaldi next time. I also can't find a setting option to save the tabs.
-
@Dancer18
There is no option to save, it´s like a window, if you close it all tabs are stored (Last session as startup).
No idea if this setting influence the workspaces but should not.
I open several tabs, create a workspace "New Workspace with x tabs", name it. -
@mib2berlin Oh yes. I had never used the
Last session as startup
option before. That definitely makes sense.
And yes, in addition to the saved workspaces, I can also open the Speed Dial tab that was previously my home page. Then I basically have it as before, plus the populated workspaces! Cool! -
This is revolutionary! Finally, this elevates the browsing experience to meet the demands of todays complicated world. Long live Workspaces + Tab Stacks!
Now, some comments:
- add ability to reorder workspaces
- why does the "start page" have to exist? no big deal, but not needed for me personally
- the move commands for moving tabs between workspaces are great - I have moved them to the first level of the context menu. it would be perfect if there was a second instance of these commands, that would also take the focus to the destination rather than the focus staying in the original location
- opening new link from external source somehow takes a long time before the tab shows up on the screen
- it would be better if it was possible to toggle between workspaces with one click rather then with two click - i.e. once it will be possible to customize the workspace icons, then the "workspace row" could display the icons for the workspaces to quickly toggle between them, while the drop down would show the names and tab counts as it does currently.
- EDIT: add ability to freeze workspace (all workspace tabs)
- otherwise, I am very pleased so far, great execution!
-
The "requirement" to use "Last session as startup" must be a bug?
It never was required to have that before when I tested Workspaces during the Snapshots - they should be auto-saved IMO.
EDIT: Apparently I was wrong, they are only saved when "Last session as startup" is enabled.Another thing they changed was have the Workspaces button permanently attached to the Tab Bar when enabled - I believe earlier it was possible to remove it and place it on the Status Bar (for instance). This is no good for me as I don't want it on the Tab Bar.
In the first 5.7 Snapshot when this was introduced:
That option is missing now.
Fix for hiding the Workspaces button on the Tab Bar:
/* Hide Workspaces button on tabbar */ #tabs-container .workspace-popup.tabbar-workspace-button { display: none; }
-
Said:
Another thing they changed was have the Workspaces button permanently attached to the Tab Bar when enabled
I thought this setting in Tabs was for the button to appear in the Tab bar:
But when you disable it, then the button of the Adress bar disappears.
So I use this code to not display:
.button-toolbar.tabbar-workspace-button.button-menu {display: none !important;}
And this code to not display the tiny triangle:
span.button-toolbar-menu-indicator.disabled {display: none !important;}
-
A strange thing:
I always open links in new tab, so I use the mouse gestures Right and Left to switch to right and left tabs.
I have this workspaces:
This tabs in WS1:
And this tabs in "Negra"
When I use the mouse gestures I get this image:
How do you explain that you are watching the Vivaldi Forum on the WS "Negra"?
-
How I can rename or delete a created WS?
You said:
context menu
Not option for me in context menu.
Move tab or tab stack to other WS: Not option
-
@barbudo2005
Hi, if you have at least one workspace, click on pull down triangle > move over the workspace > rename, delete:If you in a different workspace or the start page:
I test this in the snapshot, no idea about the stable.
Cheers, mib
-
How can I activate this?
I see on move tabs. Workspace->empty, but don't see on settings or panel any reference to it. So I cannot create one.
I'm on 5.7.2921.53 (Stable channel) (64-bit) Windows

@MetalFatigue
