Igor Silivra — Zeppelin to Kyiv
Imagine a world where electricity is perceived as quackery and pseudoscience. A world where monorail transport is used instead of the subway in Kyiv, giant zeppelins float in the sky, and calculations are performed by mechanical computerss. Two detectives investigate mysterious events that begin with a random meeting with a deceased colleague and end with the investigation of mysterious artifacts. An algorithmist from Chernivtsi makes an incredible discovery: an unknown force controls the progress of the humanity. Investigations, discoveries and romantic relationships are intertwined in a fascinating story of an alternate world.

Have been exploring some of the classics in the Public Domain lately. Currently on:
THE COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO
by Alexandre DumasThe screen reader does a pretty good job with it.
-
@Coach8264 The Count of Monte Cristo is one of my favourite books ever!
-
This is actually my first time reading it and I am very impressed. It amazes me how something written so long ago cane be relatable today. There is a lot of it though so I have to pace myself and take breaks.
-
@Coach8264 I've never read it in English (only in French), but yes I agree that it's important to take breaks as it's such a long story.

I just finished rereading "Where the Red Fern Grows" . I forgot just how heartbreakingly sad it is.

Just finished Dickens' "David Copperfield". Now for something completely different: "The Peasants" (English translation) by Wladyslaw Reymont. Recently filmed - and very well, too! - as "Chlopy" (my spelling is probably wrong, but hey, I'm English not Polish). Running to nearly a thousand pages, it should keep me going for a week or several!
