Vivaldi Name has to Change

The "Vivaldi" name has to change.
It is hard (not smooth) to pronounce.
It took me weeks for the name to stick in my head. Months to be able to type it without typos.
I recommended it to friends but they forgot the name and give up finding it after a few searches.This great awesome browser needs to conquer the world. Its name is a big hinder.
Market-wise, I think the name is horrible.
I bet several had similar experiences.
Either that or a catchy song needs to be created.

Is your post really serious? Not a funny joke?

The "Vivaldi" name has to change.
Do you want to call it Mozart? Or van Beethoven? Or Stradivari? Or Queen? Or Deep Browse?

@doctorg , maybe Tony
-
@catweazle Or like a band: "The W3".

The OP is right. Vivaldi isn't really a catchy name, & it's difficult to remember for those who aren't familiar with classical music, which is about over 99.99% of Internet user. Then, for non English/Italian speaker, this is basically an alien sounds & difficult to pronounce word, so remembering or recalling "VIVALDI" will require extra effort like memorizing names for history exam. Just try simple verbal question like "How many V & I in Vivaldi?" will get most people stumbled.
My early experience to get familiar with Vivaldi brand is also quite difficult, because I never heard of "Vivaldi" or known what it is before I heard about Vivaldi browser via Opera related news. I have to search for it to know it's origin, & just like the OP said it took a few tries to get the spelling just right while googling, so most people will just quit. LOL
Anyway, it's really too late to change this Vivaldi brand. The only way to make it easier for everyone is emphasize "V browser" when introduce it to new comer. Then make sure when someone search "V browser", Vivaldi browser will appear in the top 10 result. Yes, this might cost some extra efforts & $$$ but it's the only way to boost recognition & market share in meaningful way.A cheap way to gain quick recognition will be create competitions to challenge the community to create viral videos with "Vivaldi", like a song, poet, rapping, skit, or whatever that can go viral on the Internet. Or simply made endless parody video about how people say & spell VIVALDI wrong... LOL

Maybe 浏览器 would win some fans.
Also, Mercedes Benz is harder.

Months to be able to type it without typos.Are you joking or do you actually find it hard to type out Vivaldi (what typo can you make with this name anyway?) and say it out loud? In fact, I'd find it harder to type out Chrome properly if I just heard someone say it. Anyway, it's just a name mate. It's better than calling it 'Michael Jackson: The Browser'.

''Later, on January 27, 2015, Vivaldi Technologies launched the first technical preview of the Vivaldi web browser. Its name comes from the Italian composer Antonio Vivaldi, which, according to one of its creators, is an easy name to be remembered and understood worldwide.''
Frankly, the fact that it is called Vivaldi is easily recognizable in both Japan and Venezuela. And that was the goal when the company was founded. The name has never been a problem, however, we know that many people search for Antonio Vivaldi and end up finding us. (Or vice versa)

I propose “Honoré de Balzac browser” or “Balzac browser” in short.
-
If you don't know Vivaldi, you don't know what fun you're missing.
-
@hanlonsrazor , or simply The Browser, no other use this as brand and sounds definitive
-
@catweazle “The Browser” browser. :p
-
@hanlonsrazor , I use simply The Browser.
-
@catweazle fair enough :p

@smileleaf welcome to the forum by the way. Brand names are a notoriously difficult topic, in particular for products with international reach due to language, culture, and also age groups.
Vivaldi is in fact a good name for a very wide audience - and the classical music reference may not be cool, but classical music is at least something that many very different cultures connect to good manners, education, skill, being serious, long lasting, and beautiful. What's in a name?
-
I don't know about everyone else, but I think it's pretty neat that the wikipedia page for Antonio Vivaldi links to the Vivaldi browser page through a disambiguation notice. It's certainly not much, but surely, there must be a few people that stumbled upon the browser because of it.

I would rather change that than the name of a browser!

I always derive a profound sense of intellectual titillation from a spam thread with my morning coffee.
I sincerely hope that tomorrow will bring another of equal merit.
