Bug tracking problems (forked topic)

What if Vivaldi stop resenting about Microsoft personal product, and will start responding to bug reports?
//MODEDIT: thread forked from Microsoft back to its old tricks to get an edge on the competition.

@nikolayworkbook Much of the Team's effort is spent finding ways to circumvent the privacy concerns caused by Microsoft, Google, and other dominant players.
The Team receives thousands of bug reports. If they responded to each one, they would never fix any bugs. You will get an automated email with the report details on reporting a bug. If the bug is fixed, you will get another email like this:
Hi Thank you again for your bug report: Translate Page Not Available as a Command
We have just released a new version of Vivaldi that contains a fix that we believe resolves your issue. To get the latest version please check for updates in your browser (in the top menu, select Vivaldi > Check for Updates) or please feel free to download the latest version and give it a try.
Thanks for using Vivaldi!
Cheers
Team VivaldiIf you want to learn more about a bug you reported, you can get that information from other users in this forum.

What do you need? A personal support? Bug tracker can not be used as personal support channel, ask in forum, please.
But if you want to add something to your already sent bug report, just answer to the mail you got from bug tracker. -
@pesala:
I sent bug reports and then nothing. When asked on the forum, it turned out that the problem could not be reproduced. But the problems remain from version to version.
And other users have such a problem, just read the comments on habr.
If you have opened a bug tracker, then work with it, and do not ignore the problems. -
@doctorg:
No letter, no reaction at all.
I need a working browser, not "they is evil, we is good".
I have enough of this propaganda in Russia.//MODEDIT: Inappropriate content removed. User is reminded to observe the Code of Conduct

If nobody can reproduce your problem, how do you expect anybody to fix it?
Perhaps you should create a new forum thread to discuss it further if it is still happening? -
@tbgbe:
If you can't reproduce problem by description with screenshot, for what you have bug tracker? -
@nikolayworkbook The bug tracker is for the devs to use when users report bugs.
However, without specific details on- What the actual problem is
- How to reproduce it (step by step/which settings etc)
- Confirmation it is NOT caused by extensions/faulty equipment/lack of resources etc.
The reports are just "noise" that stop the devs working.
That is why it is better to use the forum and get confirmation of how the bug happens. -
@tbgbe:
I do not understand you. Is the bug tracker not for bugs that I found while using the browser? -
@nikolayworkbook Well, Yes, the bug tracker is for reporting "bugs" in Vivaldi.
The problem is that many reporters (not referring to YOU specifically) create bug reports for things that have been caused by their specific setup/usage and which are NOT faults in Vivaldi.
Using the forum before creating a "bug report" is a good way to filter out these mistakes and clears the devs to work on actual faults.They have thousands of reports to work through, anything we "normal" users can do to help them, we try to do.
-
@tbgbe:
Ok, that is, I somehow have to guess that before creating a bug report, I had to write to a certain forum. And only then create a report.
And these people swear at the MS product, where bug reports are easier. -

Or you could have just opened the Help - "report a bug" menu in Vivaldi
-
I dislike your provocation. And i reported now violation of forum rules.
-
@tbgbe:
And i do it. But for some reason, the developers were unable to go through the steps and recreate the error. -
@doctorg:
Provocation? For what? -

Which is precisely why it is best to report in the forum first. If you abide by the forum code of conduct, volunteers will always be glad to help you diagnose the cause of a bug, after which you can submit a bug with a clear recipe, and the developers should then be able to reproduce it.
Many times I have been unable to reproduce a bug reported on the forums, but someone else has, then the missing piece of the puzzle is found such as a different option enabled in Settings, or ad-blocking being disabled, etc.
-
@nikolayworkbook Well, just maybe...
I need a working browser, not "they is evil, we is good".
That's a pretty unpleasant accusation.
Nobody here is trying to self-aggrandise, but simply help. So attack posts like that are unwelcome.

Yes, the internal testers have to check first and if bug can be confirmed, some dev will check for a fix/workaround.

@pesala:
Cool, now it turns out that error reports for chosen.
