there is a one small app that I'm using everyday
Clover
http://ejie.meit is extension for windows explorer that ads tabs in google chrome style…
-
3D - Blender
For me Blender does not really qualify as "small", and if your hardware is not up to date it is not even really fast. IMHO it is quite a big beast.
Compared to other 3d modeling/sculpting tools/game engines it's very small and fast and even with that small size it is feature rich.
Another interesting tool is Notepad2 - a great replacement for the standard notepad in windows. UniExtract is also a handy tool.
-
Small and fast converter that converts almost any audio and video format to almost any other.
Don't worry about the German language homepage, the tool itself comes with Deutsch, English, Français, Italiano, Japanese language files included. Available as portable too.
-
There is one more app that i forget to mention, Everything(voidtools) - instant search tool.
-
ExamDiff is an easy to use freeware to compare two text files for differences. I find it useful for editing INI files, XML files, or plain text files.

I worked for Symantic when they owned Norton and still have a copy of Norton Commander for Windows and OS/2. For DOS I used Xtree Gold.
Xtree gold… I loved Xtree.... That and sidekick were my best friends in the 80's......

-MusicBee (http://getmusicbee.com/)
-GreenShot (mentioned above - really like it but its not as portable as FSCapture is)
-Autoruns (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb963902.aspx)
-FreeCommanderXE (www.freecommander.com) it really surprises me that nobody mentioned it, IMHO its like OperaPresto in the filemanagement section (portable, highly customizable, useful features…)

i've always liked winpatrol.

These programs have changed the way I use a PC - all are current, small and fast:
Everything - www.voidtools.com - instant incremental file search. Get in the habit of naming files descriptively and it's amazing
Autohotkey - www.autohotkey.com - Windows scripting, keyboard/mouse macros, text autoreplace, very powerful
Total Commander - www.ghisler.com - two-pane file manager, stable and a great interface -
@serious:
foobar2000 was my audio player of choice for a long time before I used spotify (my poor RAM); its small, fast, and does not have some stupid "cool" interface like pretty much every other player. Oh, and did I mention that the tagging support is superb?
yes, i use foobar on my more powerful system, but on my weaker laptop i use XMPlay portable. i've never tried spotify, i'll have to take a peek.
