Thanks for your comments and sorry for the troubles you encountered with IDM. Does the following fix the issues you're having?

Does not work. I still have the same problem. When will it be fixed? Using the latest snapshot. This needs to be fixed ASAP.
-
Same issue here, work for any other Chromium browsers such as Chrome, Opera, Cent. Just not working on Vivaldi.
-
It still doesn't work. This is quite sad, since IDM is definitely the best video grabber for Chromium browsers.
-
On latest snap here (1.3 x64) works. IDM 6.25 b20
-
Did you check the video grabber? It definitely doesn't work for me, neither with the latest snapshot.
-
I'm testing. Both grabber and link catching works.
Have you tried to remove the IDM extension from Vivaldi and reinstall IDM again (with closed vivaldi)? Maybe there's an old extension installed. Check also if browser integration for Vivaldi on IDM is on.
Sometimes the grabber popup is hidden, you have to play with browser window and stand still on a video when you see its blue area. Then you can move it where you want. (I had the same issue on chrome time ago).
However I usually use only the link catching as the grabber doesn't work on some sites (I use another extension for that) -
Yes, I tried that, but it still doesn't work.
Link catching works, but a download button for video does not appear. -
Please fix it, right now, this issue keeps me away from making vivaldi as my default browser.

Frankly I never understood why people use it.
There is Jdownloader it does practically everything better than IDM, it's free it's constantly updated and works w/o any integration inside the bowser(s).
All you need to do is to copy the link )or the address containing multiple links), and confirm the download.
-
JDownloader is not a replacement for IDM's video grabber. JD works nicely with YT, but it doesn't detect every other video as reliably as IDM. It's also quite bloated and I have to make more clicks to download a YT video in VP9/Opus format.
-
On youtube no grabber seems to work. I use an extension only for it
(not from chrome store, due google policies).
-
Could you provide a hint how one could find this extension?

I think you never tested it thoroughly.
I have yet to see a page where JD doesn't work, and downloading whatever YT video in the format you like is as simple as choose the wanted file from the list.

As I said no extension neded.
Just use JD, copy the YT address page and choose the the file you want to download.
-
This is not a solution but just a very crippled workaround.
This is not a solution. Is a better solution IMO.
It works just like the good old Getright, but it works also with media files, w/o messing one or more browser with extensions.
That said I'm not judging your personal lickings, i wrote about JD just because most of the users aren't aware of it

Thanks for this discussion -
I'm a longtime dedicated IDM'er too - it actually worked briefly yesterday upon my portable install of
1.4.589.11 (Stable channel) (32-bit) @ w7 64bit Ultimate, but now it's not ??But I'm more than willing to change my habits, because Vivaldi is "Saving" webpages to .pdf format
including live hyperlinks IN UNDER 3 SECONDS ! NO SHITE !
whereras Acrobat Pro plugin takes 1 - 5 minutes ! and no other pdf program I know of saves embedded links. So, I'm "almost there" to do EVERYTHING w/ Vivaldi - & I really want to, too!
So … will the JD user-lovers please address the dreaded "Java" issue?
maybe some discussion & ref-links on how to set it up in a very safe, restricted fashion w/o ongoing high maintenance -
constant clicking to allow/disallow/block/unblock, etc !Thank You

What issue? O_o
JD is a java program that's all, you don't need to install java system-wide, nor any java plugin in the browser, to have JD up and running.
