He asks the most inane and illogical questions, and people try to help him. He is either pure attention-seeking or a moron, or both. Needy idjit covers it.

@hlehyaric No apology necessary! Not everyone can be expected to be familiar with English idiom. And increasing the understanding or knowledge store of people is actually kind of a life goal of mine. It makes me happy. So you are entirely welcome.

That said, maybe I should not be unkind concerning the referenced user. We can't know if he is very young, very old, completely new to technology, suffering some sort of learning or cognitive deficit, on the autism spectrum, or whatever. No one is to blame for their personal infirmities All I know is that when I answer this user's questions with seemingly-easy-to-understand replies, they seem to actually not possess the context that makes "obvious" answers obvious, and so they ask more questions to fill in knowledge gaps that I assumed no one had. So I try to be polite and to clear things up, but the amount of stuff this user seems to not know would fill the containers on the ship that blocked the Suez Canal.
