Do you want to change to Mac OS from Win10?
-
@Poto I also have zero interest in gaming, ugh i simply don't see the point. However, IMO

Apple's hardware is too tight for my liking, leaving little room for the user for modifications
Although the pricing of the official upgrade configuration is too high, I am opposed to the replacement of the PC configuration. It is difficult to sell the upgraded SSD or memory because their capacity is relatively small, which is a waste

@Steffie Real life means that I want me to enjoy the scenery, the company of interesting girls, etc., instead of being addicted to the screen and a bunch of boring tricks. I don’t like games, videos (entertainment industry, such as movies, animation, and YouTube Video), the virtual world is very easy addictive
I used to play games, I used to spend a lot of time watching videos, I was addicted to it, and then I found out, what is the point of doing this? Pointless! The game is just an endless loop, and I can’t recall it after watching the video, so I think about why I’m addicted to it, and what is the meaning of these virtual things to me? Obviously it doesn’t make sense. If I want to have fun, then the best choice for me is to sleep.
I think that life is sleep, diet and exercise. This is my bottom line and it must not be violated. The virtual world will break this balance. It is difficult for me to guarantee that even if I have this knowledge, I will not be addicted. So the best way is to physically isolate them, and you won’t be addicted if you don’t touch them.
to sum up:
Entertainment in the virtual world is very boring and meaningless, for me.I used to be addicted to the virtual world, when I realized that this was a chronic suicide for me, it was not a healthy interest. Tech giants usually don't allow their children to have access to technology products, just as drug dealers don't take drugs themselves. I can’t guarantee that I won’t be addicted again, so I choose to physically isolate the entertainment in the virtual world, and try to make myself a tool to accomplish my own goals by taking customer food as a tool, instead of relying on technology products and indulging in the virtual world.

@Poto My credo fyi:
Spoiler
[a disclaimer to help you out, since it seems you've not yet realised that much of what i post here is deliberately whimsical & overtly silly, not serious]. <-- is supposed to be the Rosetta Stone clue.
- Gaming is boring & pointless
- "Life" is ok-ish, but not as good as the real thing.
- It's all irrelevant anyway, coz this is all merely a buggy digital simulation & i expect to be reformatted some time sooner or later.
-
@Steffie Hate to be a downer, but you will not be reformatted. You are part of the data that will the subject of a reformat. Just sayin...
-
@Ayespy No no, you're not being a downer at all. I simply provided you with cogent proof of my proposition that the current system deployment is buggy. Here i am, a tiny component part of it, positing that a software element could be interacted with as if it were actual hardware. If that alone does not prove the conjecture, then ...

Speaking of reformatting ... if someone gave me a new M1-based Mac I'd be quite willing to reformat that and install pretty much any Linux distro.. Okay, any distro with ARM support.
-
I like this game, it's also compatible with Mac (with a patch), and it's anything but repetitive or boring (free, community driven)
-
A bit OT, but: I take umbrage at these remarks about gaming.
What would you rather do instead? Work, Read a book, chat with friends and family, walk in nature? Do enough of these and you'll find they also start to repeat. You'll find the same tasks, repeated plot lines, the same people to talk to, the same trees and animals in the woods.
Are any of these things worth less just because they are repeated? Of course not. In some cases, the sameness is where you get the real value from. Relationships, in particular, get stronger the more you are with the same people.
If games aren't to your taste, that's fine, but I think it's a bit obtuse to just paint [all of gaming] as boring and an endless loop of permutations, and use that as an excuse to dismiss them.
-
@LonM Flagged for OT.
-
@Steffie I would ban myself, but then I'd lose access to my emails, I don't want to do that.
-
@LonM Say, that kinda sorta reminds me of a Certain Other Thread extant...

-
@LonM From a personal point of view, I have had experience of addiction to games and entertainment, So I tend to refuse, which has something to do with my self-discipline. When my self-discipline cannot help me, physical isolation is obviously an effective means.
My point of view is also very simple. My environment focuses on the traditional life. I need to support my family’s life. My health. Because of my parents’ wrong superstition when I was a child, I have chronic pneumonia. All these backgrounds have shaped my values. Saying these, I just express my views on virtual things
If I don’t concentrate on exercising, but sit in the seat to play games or watch dramas, it will not help my health.
To sum up, I think that addictive behaviors may occur when playing games or other virtual things, so I want to exclude them. And my health doesn’t allow me to play games without moving for a long time
-
I used a description that may cause controversy to describe my views on the game, so I want to correct this.
I don’t play games, and I don’t use the computer for entertainment, so whether my computer supports playing games is something I don’t need to consider
-
@Poto Of course.
Addiction is a very real disease, and certainly if you suffer from addiction to games then you are best placed to decide how to handle that.

One thing I find works well for me is to set up a laptop in front of an indoor exercise bike, that way I can both watch stuff and exercise. But of course, we each need to find a healthy balance.

Life should naturally focus on the real world with work, social life and family. But video games, as long as they are not abused, can be a great alternative for free time, instead of sitting in front of the TV (which one of these days I will replace with an aquarium, in view of the programming they offer), Since it helps to keep neurons in shape, especially at the age of retirement with a lot of free time.
The decision not to play should depend in any case on the user, not the manufacturer of the HW -
