Can't exit fullscreen
-
As the title says, I can't exit fullscreen, neither F11 or ESC work, no keyboard shortcuts seem to work at all on Vivaldi, other browsers continue to work just fine.
I was reading manga and went fullscreen for that, but now I can't exit.
I'm on Windows 10, if that helps any.
Anyone got any ideas on how to get out of this mess?

What if you press F2 to open quick command and type fullscreen, does that give you an ability to exit?
-
@lonm Nope, pressing F2 doesn't bring anything up, no keyboard commands work, all I can do is type in search bars.
-
@genomerabbit could you make a screenshot, if you can get to a view with no personal information, to show what kind of fullscreen state you are in?
Press prtscrn on your keyboard and then paste it here as a reply (if you can paste)
-
@genomerabbit Try Ctrl+F11 to exit from Toggle UI mode.
-
Try killing all Vivaldi processes in task manager and restart it.

sometimes solutions come easy: Right click on any open window to get "Fullscreen" option to toggle - or, in my case, I was able to bring up a "speed dial" page, in full screen mode mind you, and right clicking there brought up a "fullscreen" option (no checkmark or anything), but toggling it switched back and forth to and from full screen...β¦β¦β¦β¦β¦β¦...is it not nice when something is easyu?
-
@peteraloha Yeah, hidden away in right click menu. What's worse is that Vivaldi tells you to press Esc to exit fullscreen mode except Esc does not work.

@Gwen-Dragon
That was June 1, 2020 when you said that. I have the most recent version of Vivaldi - stuck with full screen - no suggestions for a clean exit work as suggested here or elsewhere. It's December 29th, 2020. Seems this is still a bug. Windows 10 Professional - no other problems with the OS or other programs. Now I guess I have to kill the program and reload.
-
@Skiphorine It was fixed. Your report, if verified, would be a regression. Please see how to file a bug report.

The usual way to get into and out of full-screen mode is by using the F11 key. If this does not work for you, try to hit Alt + Space to open the application menu and click (or use the keyboard) to choose Restore or Minimize. Another way is to hit Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open the Task Manager.
Let me know if this works.

I'm using Vivaldi 3.5.2115.81 (Stable channel) (64-bit) on WIndow 10 and I can confirm that this has been fixed in the cases I was having trouble with it on, e.g. escaping fullscreen mode with Esc key on www.shadertoy.com now works.
Great work, thanks!

I have a similar issue with fullscreen. I can enter fullscreen with F11, but it won't exit using F11. The only way I've found to exit fullscreen is to press F2 to openn quick command and then press F11 while quick command is open. Why?
-
I have just exeprienced this on Linux (i3 wm). I am stuck in fullscreen mode on one browser instance and it won't go away when using F11 (toggle fullscreen) or using command.
Vivaldi 3.7.2218.45 (Stable channel) (64-bit) Revision fd6604a1bdbe9da3e648d7e601352c87e0259dc6 OS Linux

@RetroCoder80sV2 There is a known issue where you get stuck in fullscreen if you first fullscreen Vivaldi (using F11) and then open e.g. a YouTube video in fullscreen. Could this be what's happening to you?
-
@Komposten Yes, I think that is exactly what happened. As I was watching a YT video.
-
@Gwen-Dragon It is not limited to YouTube. I've had the same thing happen in Microsoft Teams, so I'd guess that it applies to every website that offers fullscreen video.
-
@kturoy Thanks, that's the only method I have found that works
-
@AbsenteeAtom Does not appear to be limited to that either. I got it on http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test, which is very basic.
The only way I've found (and I've tried all the above mentioned) is using the window manager's operations menu option "Fullscreen", but then the Vivaldi window becomes bereft of decoration, no toolbars or anything
Vivaldi 3.7.2218.49, XFCE.
Restarting Vivaldi restores it though, but that's a sucky workaround.

Same issue with latest vivaldi-stable on Solus (Budgie DE) Linux.
Almost every time I can't exit from full screen after watching a video (youtube).Do I need to gather some info and open a ticket or its already reported?
