Facebook sends notification while hibernating
-
I had hibernated all tabs in Vivaldi except for a couple of speed dial tabs, but I still got notifications from Facebook when a friend messaged me. I have no extensions installed that have anything to do with Facebook. Anyone have any ideas as to how those notifications could come through when Facebook was supposed to be hibernating?
Vivaldi 2.1.1337.20 (Official Build) (64-bit)
Win 10 -
From what I can see in
chrome://settings/content/notifications
there is only one entry for Facebook, and it is not extension controlled. It is under "Allow", though, but that is expected since I have allowed notifications. -
You could visit
vivaldi://serviceworker-internals
(copy and paste to address bar) to see if facebook has registered itself as a service worker. You can just click "unregister" to remove it.

@lonm It's there, but says "Stopped". Changed to "Running" when I got a message.
If I unregister it, will Facebook re-register it again? -
Also, thank you @LonM for the reply. Seems you solved the mystery.

@komposten It may re-register itself again. I am not sure if there's a way to prevent this currently. If you think there should be one, you could vote for a feature request: Require Opt-In for Service-Worker Registrations
