How to reopen closed windows?
-
There it is: I inadvertently closed that one windows with the 134 tabs and now I cannot find a way to restore it.
How is it done with this browser?
-
Or click on the Trash Can.
-
Mmh, ok, but how do you access both?? ( I am using version 1.11.917.43)
-
Yeah OK, managed to access the trash, but since I closed the browser in the meantime, it's gone ..
-
If I may be so bold, you should update your version of Vivaldi. The version you are running is really out of date.
You are also missing out on the latest technology. -

Whoa! Pretty outdated, missing a lot of improvement, features and stability, not to mention the security.
According to @pesala "History of Vivadi Releases"
1.11 was released in 26/04/2016, three weeks later was replaced by 1.12 -
@Gwen-Dragon
What is the "Window Panel" and where do I find it?

My Trashcan doesn't look like this, and doesn't show my closed Window
-
@simongoodman This happens if the closed window only contained one tab. Reopening the closed tab will reopen the closed window with that tab, but there is no submenu to show a list of tabs because there is only one tab for that window.
-
@simongoodman There is a bug where closed windows may not show up in trash can or the window panel, so maybe this is what happened.
(Unfortunately, the bug couldn't be replicated by the devs so it was closed as invalid. Though there are at least 3 people here on the forums who have experienced it, including me on 2 vivaldi installations.)

Please test it for yourself. It is very easy to reproduce, but is not a bug IMO. The submenu is not required for one tab. However, showing the subfolder for one tab would have on advantage, the reopened window with one tab would then be reopened on a secondary monitor (or wherever it was before) instead of on the primary monitor as a new restored window.
-
Yes, that's very annoying, that's why when you have a lot of tabs, click on
File > Save open tabs as session....If a probleme occurs, you juste have to click on
File > Open saved session...Very useful.

That's not what I'm talking about. When I last tested the bug I'm referring to I closed a window with 10 tabs, and its tabs were nowhere to be seen in the trash list.
-
Yes the trash list only shows the tabs you have closed before.
If you had 10 tabs, none of them will appear in the trash list because none of them was closed.
The browser was closed, not tabs.To save tabs :
File >Save open tabs in session -
@titanium If you have two windows open and close one, the closed window should appear in the trash in the other window. That's how Vivaldi has worked since the start. That's what is not happening with the bug I'm talking about.
-
Can you not re-open the tabs from history?
-
so, the same just happened to me...
i had a window with more than 50 tabs open, and the other with 10...
i closed the 1st one bcs of some sound problem in one of the tabs to reopen it, but forgot i already have 2nd window open so i cant reopen 1st to restore it...
did i lost it? is there no way to recover it? (i didnt save session:( )
-
@dpongrac And the window does not appear in the trash list (top right, besides the minimize/maximise/close buttons)?
-
nope...
-
I have the same problem, and I think it started with v2.6. When I accidentally closed a window with several tabs, I used to be able to click on "restore all" in the trashcan. But this "restore all" option isn't there anymore. I can only reopen tabs one by one, which is very tedious.
