Where are PPAs and Repositories Backed Up?
-
Maybe not be appropriate to post this in the SS thread - if not my apologies in advance.
I updated Linux Mint 18.3 to 19 today, and it warned me my PPAs and Repositories would be cleared and backed up somewhere. I can't find where it backed them up, but now they're blank, and I have a vivaldi-stable install, and a vivaldi-snapshot install.
I believe when I installed each Vivaldi - they added themselves to my software repositories list so I'd get updates. Is there a way to add them back manually, or do I need to reinstall vivaldi-snapshot and vivaldi-stable to get that update ability back, and re-add them to my list of software repositories?

@jimtdi I moved your thread from the Snapshot thread to the Linux forum, where I think it will more likely get noticed by Linux users who can help you.

Check commented lines in /etc/apt/sources.list
Check for renamed files you should have /etc/apt/sources.list.d/vivaldi.listThank you also for trying to help me. The first file you mentioned is empty and the second only has entries for updating my current OS. The conversion program/path to go from Linux Mint 18.3 to 19 mentioned it would wipe my sources - looks like it did. I just can't find where the conversion program backed my old settings up to (I should have written it down when it told me, my bad!). I'll have to look some more - and maybe someone in the Mint forums can shed some light.

Check for renamed files you should have /etc/apt/sources.list.d/vivaldi.listYour post gave me food for thought - good thing I didn't re-install V yesterday. I did a search for 'sources.*' figuring I'd find a .bak file or something, and sure enough I found an 'Upgrade-Backup' folder in my home directory with the 2 files you mention above. My Vivaldi settings were in there, I added them back to my current settings, and I'm pretty sure it will work once there is an upgrade to Snapshot or Stable. So thank you again @gwen-dragon for pointing me in the right direction!
