Middle click on tab bar to open new tab
-
Yes please!!

This is still my number one complaint about Vivaldi, and it's enough to make me not want to use the browser at all. I wouldn't be using it if it wasn't for the JS replacement that fixes this, which I have to re-download every single time there's an update.

Many versions ago middle click on tab bar did open new tab then it was removed to implement something else, the Vivaldi blog, or news as it's now called said they would reintroduce it but it never has been. I've never fully got out of the habit of trying it.

@rainspa Simple answer, put the tab bar on the bottom where it should be! :-p
(I jest, of course... :-))

@andrewz1986 What relevance does that link have here?
-
@pesala Well, since middle click on "+" symbol on tab bar opens a new tab, I thought you are talking about enabling this feature on the whole tab bar. So I linked a suggestions on how it could look. Any misunderstanding here?
-
@andrewz1986 the thing is this feature is actually present but is bugged with tabs on top
-
@zakius I agree. This is a bug that affects Windows OS when non-native windows are enabled, or when the tab bar is at its usual position at the top. The bug has already been reported as far as I know.
I have moved it to the Windows forum, which is a more appropriate place for this discussion.
@andrewz1986 the link points to a feature request to show an extender menu for tabs if there are too many to fit, rather than reducing the width of the tabs. I don't see how that applies to this issue.

@pesala I changed the position of tab bar and finally see your point. I originally responded to how the browser work when you use default settings (non-native look of the window + tab bar on top). It is a question where the bug is since we do not know what intention Vivaldi developers have. Since impossibility to use middle click to open a new tab when having the tab bar on top lasts for many months already, it rather seems to me like a (IMO bad**) design decision rather than bug (which would be easy to fix many months ago, especially when it is present in default settings and is pretty obvious).
** it is a sin to not utilize the empty space on the tab bar
My linked post still remains relevant, since it describes current state in more detail and illustrates a simple way of how to inform a user that the whole tab bar area is "active" for various gestures or middle click. The new "+" icon would not steal place for titles of pages inside the tabs, since the icon would shrink as you fill the tab bar with tabs.
