Set persistency of select cookies
-
Hi,
Each time after closing and opening, websites that need setting of preferences lose those preferences. For instance WeatherUnderground one can select Celsius or Fahrenheit. What I'd like is to be able to select which website cookies I'd like to keep across browser sessions, to include when erasing all manually, to retain these selected cookies as to come back later, the mentioned WeatherUnderground and be presented with Celsius instead of the default Fahrenheit.
Thanks for reading.

@sekerob I am please to see someone else who wants to make heavy use of managing cookies!
What you want to do is:
- Go to the web page
chrome://settings/content/cookies
(not vivaldi settings, but chrome internal settings) - Use the first switch to turn cookies on
- Use the next switch to clear cookies when you close the browser
- I guess you can block 3rd party, if that bothers you.
- Then, you need to whitelist sites you want to keep. You can do this manually for each domain or subdomain
- Next to Block, or Allow, click the "Add" button, and add a rule in the form of
[*.]bbc.co.uk
if you wanted bbc to remember cookies across sessions
Once you do this, the next time your browser is restarted, all cookies except those you specify will be erased.
You can even go further and block all cookies completely except those you specify by toggling the 2nd switch I mentioned. If you down that route you can add domains as needed by clicking on the padlock next to the address > cookies > blocked > select a domain > allow.
IMPORTANT: This doesn't affect the "clear all private data" function. If you clear all cookies that way, everything is cleared regardless of these settings.
Hope this helps!

Thank you so much for laying out this very workable solution. Set up a few, closed the browser. opened it and found the right temp, plus one that held me signed in. The latter, ticking the 'Remember' box did not help to stop the general cookie wipe, but after adding it did.

There's an ever so slight bug. I've pinned the tab with chrome://settings/content/cookies whilst I'm slowly implementing the exceptions and blocks. When closing the browser, and opening, the url reads vivaldi://settings/content/cookies . Long as one just F5's the page, you're still fine, but putting the cursor in the address space and enter with vivaldi in front, throws one back to the Startup settings screen.
As an aside, tried the same in Chrome itself, and there it works well too, on Windows. On Android 6 in Chrome, the browser pleads ignorance. (:>

Yes, got that issue too, to include if one closes the tabs, they stay. Closing the browser and re-opining returns sanity.
