What's your favorite horror movie?

Mine is The Thing. The visuals in it are better than most modern movies IMO. I try to watch it every Halloween.

But of the movies I've seen very recently, I'd recommend checking out Oddity.

Not a horror film buff at all - but I remember an old 1950s black-and-white called "The Casting of the Runes". I think it was based on an Edgar Allen Poe yarn. Long story short, the end sequence featured the Hero and Beautiful Endangered Girl were making their escape, driving through a sinister wood on a wet and stormy night, pursued by a giant demon breathing flames and flapping huge wings (curiously not attempting to fly)....I was about 8 or 9, watching on our big Rediffusion tv, and it scared the hell out of me.

A few weeks later, we went to visit my sister, and my brother-in-law drove us back home through a very similar wood in very similar conditions. I was terrified, panicking, trying to hide from this non-existant Beast, bawling my eyes out...... Nearly 60 years later, I still recall vividly that terror - I'm in a cold sweat writing this!

They just don't make movies like that nowadays...
