@ingolftopf
Well... unfamiliar word to me as well.
I took a picture of "Chushu no meigetsu" today!
-
@shifte
Thank youIt's crazy, from all over the earth, the same moon shining on us.
And we humans sometimes do shit like this instead of just getting along like every child is advised to do.
But, even if not always easy to grasp, for peace researchers things are completely clear, since the beginning of history and after the two world wars, we live in much, much less warlike times today.
Even if the world wars were not so long ago.
One can only hope that humanity has learned from this.
I think so.This comes to mind when I see, almost at the same time, a Japanese and German picture of our common moon here.
Here it is about to "set".

@shifte
Let me ask you, what does "Chushu no meigetsu" mean exactly? -
@ingolftopf said in Scenery of your town:

@Ryszard
Yes, but of course.What makes you think that?
The Russian government incited its own people against the "brother state" with all its dirty tricks in order to pursue its goals.
Just like all dictators do.
Khrushchev once gave Crimea to Ukraine as a sign of the bond between the two "brother states" and now Putin, the Russian government is doing this.

August 15th on the lunar calender is called "中秋の名月(Chushu-no-Meigetsu)", it's on September 29th this year.
"中秋" means "Mid-Autumn", "名月" means "beautiful moon".Now I remember! The Naruto German House is in the neighboring town.
I've never been there.
I'll go soon.btw, my mother sent me a picture of Harvest Moon, from Tokyo.
-
@shifte If we are doing supermoons, here is the one I shot last night (last one of the year) from my front yard. Because of significant haze, it looked orange as it rose.
-
@shifte And also, night before last from my front yard, handheld, Jupiter and four of its moons. From left to right, probably Europa, Calisto, Io, Ganymede

@Ayespy
You know a lot about stars.
And beautiful photos.
I think I'm going to install "Star walk" (app)". -

@shifte
Many thanksInteresting link, saved.

@Ayespy
Thanks for the great photos.You must have a good telescope.
-
@ingolftopf I have a telescope, but I don't know where it is, and it has no camera attachment. These were taken with a Canon SX540 HS. It has 50X optical zoom that expands digitally to 200X (four times multiplier). As it's over 20Mpx, the digital expansion doesn't cause the images to fall apart too much. The moon image is only within the limits of the optical zoom pretty much. The Jupiter image takes full advantage of the digital zoom, which is why it's grainy. My tripod is not a lot to write home about, so I mostly use handheld, or braced on a solid object to defeat motion artifact. For the Jupiter image, it takes several shots to get one without a lot of vibration in it.
-
@ingolftopf The very best Jupiter shot I ever got (handheld, braced on a post) is this one.

In my home county, Göltzschtal-Bridge. This is the world's largest bridge built of bricks. The railway line from Leipzig to Nuremberg runs over it. The mayors of the nearby towns are trying to make the bridge a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

@Ayespy
A great shot!Thank you very much for it.
You can hardly do this, even with a good telescopeWould you be interested in sharing these impressive shots in our [Matrix], a really good open source messenger, space:
"Astronomie"?Astronomy photos are often posted there and of course English is spoken there.
This would also be very interesting there and you would enliven the room with your expertise.
-
@shifte
Perhaps you would also be interested in presenting your beautiful astronomy photos with your good descriptions there.You would also enrich the [Matrix] space with them.
You would also give a nice international flair that is being created there.
-
I am very reluctant to post your good photos myself, to the delight of everyone there.
It would be much, much nicer if you could do it yourselves.
-
@eleucht
Thank you for the beautiful photo and your additional information.
