Do you download your music? or take the trouble to get the CD/DVD?
-
@greybeard Try directly http://mscp3.live-streams.nl:8360/flac.flac
-
@ryszard That works. No HTTPS but I don't have to enter any PII.
Thanks -
@greybeard You can play through XMPlay, you can probably play through VLC too.
You can also save the file first - e.g. via Opera 12.18 -

Just copy and paste the link of the music, click convert. That's done.

@ryszard Good idea about saving via O12.
I want to limit streaming as I do not have unlimited connection.
Also going to have to replace iTunes. Latest version has messed up my iPod and the music stored on the local computer. Of course "the Fruit" will not respond to my queries. Never had any luck with any of their products (laptop, iPad and now my iPod Touch). -

It's been more than a year, other programs have appeared but O12 is still the best for saving a stream from, for example, http://mscp2.live-streams.nl:8100/flac.flac or http://radio.el-stacja.pl:8000/elstacjaap320.ogg

I normally use m3u files from this site
https://www.internet-radio.com
In this way I have non-stop music 24/7 of the style that I feel like at all times, discovering new bands and music. -
For more than a year, some people have been writing in this thread about how to listen to Internet radio without Internet access
-
@Ryszard, in cases where I don't have internet, I either listen to radio channels on the TV or I have no choice but to buy a CD in a store (if they still exist). Streaming or downloading anyway is not possible if there is no internet. But this, at least in my case, only happened on specific occasions during network downturns.
I still remember pre-internet times, where as a young man I recorded the songs from the rado on tape, this also worked.
In any case, using m3u that I listen to in VLC, which also allows me to record the songs that I like, for the moments when the router has a hickup. -
@Ryszard I'd just like to see preferences... whether or not folks like to have a hard copy or just listen from the internet.
I've been planning on building a music server for my own discs for a while now but have yet to get around to it.
Personally paying Amazon or apple to store my music on is not in my budget. And more to the point, if my service of choice decides to shut down what happens to the music or subscriptions I have bought from them? -
@greybeard, everyone has their preferences and naturally there are people who prefer to have a physical copy of a disc. In the past I had a large collection of records, which unfortunately got lost in a move. But in times of the internet, where practically everyone is connected, in my opinion this has lost a bit of meaning, since you can listen to any song or album at any time when you feel like it on the infinite streaming channels that exist, with the advantage to know new artists and songs that can be added to the favorites, regardless of what the music companies suggest in their top sales in the different media, what was previously the only source of information and not exactly the best.
No, streaming is the best way for me, even having the possibility of recording pieces that I like, if I want. -

Theoretically, in such a case, they should inform users beforehand - we are closing the service as of .... Download your files. Well, unless you didn't buy the files but only paid for the ability to play them.

I still have a collection of cassette tapes and CDs I once bought, as well as cassettes of songs recorded from the radio, but I prefer internet radio or compilations from youtube. Played live or pre-recorded, because a CD or tape does not give random playback.
-
Often use spotify on my phone and computer, not specifically to listen to anything, just life needs a bit of music sometimes. Random playback is pretty good too.
Will buy physical albums to support favourite music, also hi-res sites like mora.jp for that. -

Very wide range with acceptable prices, eg.:

I prefer having physical copies of music CDs or DVDs because they offer a more tangible and interactive experience. Exploring album art and reading liner notes give me a feeling of engagement with music that isn't achievable with digital downloads. Even though digital media has its benefits, owning physical copies boost music appreciation. For me, owning a physical copy is worth the additional cost and effort.
