Oh and something else...

I lived through the OS wars
I was dead for a year, then, for tax reasons.
ALL.
Lately, for vague indiscernible reasons, i've sensed this thread might have slightly deviated a tiny tad OT. Now, as someone who demonstrably respects Staying On Topic at all times, & to whom the very concept of OT is bigly distressing, this is rather upsetting. Ipso facto, further digressions shall be reported right up the line, to the very top. So there!
Disclaimer.
Given some peeps seem to have an ongoing struggle spotting irony & sarcasm, i formally declare that this post might contain teensy weensy traces of them. Maybe. Really, who's to say? Jodie? Possiblynobody

I truly & sincerely admire you for this.

@hlehyaric Right, you ... FLAGGED for OT.
Don't say ya wasn't warned.
You've only yourself to blame.
Muhahahahaha...

@guigirl A very interesting article. Thanks for sharing it with us. I really didn't know that such a vulnerability existed, but I'm glad that the tools that I do use would expose such an exploit if I ever encountered it.
My clipboard history tool, on my WindowMaker desktop, seems to easily identify the hidden code.

@dbouley Yeah, ditto.

When google became a default search engine and was getting more and more popular what microsoft did? Launched bing
When google chrome killed internet explorer what microsoft did? Copy and paste chromium code and made closed-source Microsoft Edge
When Android was getting more popular what Microsoft did? Launched Windows for mobile.
When Mac-os got popular what Microsoft did? Made Windows 11 look exactly same as mac.
When Android became the most popular operating system what Microsoft did? Windows 11 now also supports Android apps.
Microsoft said they block ads and trackers in microsoft edge they don't.
Windows 11 home windows 10 home windows 7 home none of them support bitlocker. Privacy comes at a price. And why does an antivirus needs to submit my files to the cloud?
To provide protection or to spy(automatically). And why do I need to turn on optional diagnostic data to get insider builds. That feature is so deadly that it send entire data in the ram is sent automatically to microsoft. Means even keypassXC can't defend my passwords.
This guy betrayed his own wife what is the guarantee he will not betray us? -
@nightmaresama Oh c'mon, please. Not here!

Back on topic ... I wrote my college dissertation on Word on Windows 3.1, and the shortcuts there were Ctrl-Del, Ctrl-Ins and Shitt-Ins.
And theoretically, Windows is not quite a monopoly. You could always buy a Mac, and now there are also Chromebooks and Linux.

Phew.
Windows is not quite a monopoly
Well, that didn't last long.

In the interests of never again deviating from the essential theme of this thread's OP, i think we can all agree on this simple unambiguous statement of facts, then all move forward hand in hand & merrily Kumbayahhhhhhhhhhing...
windoze sucks
linux rocks
lmb-select mmb-paste rulz
mac; wot's that? And so now we can calmly return to the main topic, safe in the knowledge of no further OT.

@dbouley keeping the spirit of not being OT, did you switch back to ALT-Linux? No more Exe?
...makes totally sense actually...
-
@npro Yes, I've decided to return to my "Linux roots" and recently installed ALT Linux P9 with WindowMaker. It's been a few years since I've run with WM, but it's all coming back to me and I've been enjoying it. WM takes a little more work to set up and configure, but it also doesn't get in the way of your work. And, it's fast and responsive.
ALT was one of my very first flavours of Linux. I've always wanted to go back to it at some point and now I've decided to do so. I'll be writing a review about it on my Vivaldi blog in the coming weeks.
Of course, in reference to this discussion, I have also "screened" my cut and pastes from the Internet with Klipper, TDE's clipboard tool, when I didn't use WM.

@dbouley Nice move, oh and I'll definitely read that
Btw, I also have a CASIO PB-100 in my possession but it's so used you can't see numbers and letters on it, that good it was
Typing BASIC programs while reading the code from paperrolls was definitely more fun than today

Oh, NICE! Those pocket PCs are such cool pieces of tech. So advanced in their day.

@dbouley If i wasn't such a huge respecter of rigorously staying On Topic, i might mention my Uni TI-59, still to this day sitting in a desk drawer, together with the slide-rule it supplanted. Sadly, i cannot in good conscience mention even a whisper of them.

My apologies, @guigirl , I've been trying so hard to stay on topic.
. That TI-59 is a real piece of portable technology history.
In related to this topic, at least it's not vulnerable to this Javascript exploit!

That's Cheating.
