Who is using a Raspberry Pi (or similar)?

These tiny computers are as powerful as many notebook computers despite their size. The latest RPi models have ARM v7 chips and are quad core. Although not a replacement for your desktop machine they can serve the purpose in a pinch.

I think the pi is great. I use it for game console emulation (nintendo, super nintendo, ps1, n64, etc). It is also great as an NFS client for streaming media on a local network.

Actually just recieved a competitor of sorts to the RPI , the Pinebook Pro (ARM Rockchip based Linux Laptop)... and the Debian/ARM released somewhat works...

Now that the Raspberry Pi 4 is here, I have finally got rid off my large and noisy PC equipment. Pi 4 is totally capable as my daily number 1 computer. It is wonderful, that with 50 euros you can do that. All those nice and free linux applications run smoothly - including this Vivaldi I'm using right now.
My Pi4 sits in a whole aluminium passive cooling case, ah' this silence... Even when crunching numbers in Seti@home project, temperature keeps in 70 C. An SSD disk is connected via USB3 and a RDS radio via USB2. What more does one need...?
My older Pi, the 3B+, wasn't speedy enough to replace 'real PC', but is still alive - doing number crunching too 24/7. At the same time it acts as a night light running marvellous xscreensaver in a 3,5 inch external LCD screen. Of course that takes resources from Seti, but I'm in no hurry.... they are out there - aren't they
Happy raspiing,

Raspberry
I am new but it has caught my attention to acquire it, because I have seen article where they speak very well of it and its functionality by physically removing the weight of traditional computers, my question is: What is the best option in terms of which to choose?

@Luigi007 It really depends on what you need it to do for you. If you are planning to replace a desktop or laptop with it, you are definitely going to want to go with the Raspberry Pi 4 (RPi 4) with 4GB of RAM.
You should consider if the RPi is going to be good enough to replace your current device. I have never used a RPi as a PC replacement, but in other projects, they have been noticeably slower than what I would consider acceptable for my normal PC use. I have only used the Raspberry Pi 3 B+, so maybe the RPi 4 is finally good enough to be used by most, but there are still several limitations.
If you just want a RPi to mess around with Linux, create a network adblocker with Pi-hole, or control some cool LED project, then you don't need to worry as much about the version of the RPi. But if you are looking for the best usable speed, go with the Raspberry Pi 4 with 4 GB of RAM and buy and SSD to use with it instead of using a MicroSD card.

@Luigi007 Here is a useful video about setting up a RPi with an SSD from the guy with the Swiss accent:
#312 Boot a Raspberry Pi4 with an SSD to make it reliable and fastAnd now how to do it another way, but potentially a bit risky:
Finally: Native USB Boot without SD card for the Raspberry Pi4 (SSD Boot) -
@birdydon I use my RasPi as a web server to host my own website.

I use my RPi 4 with 8GB of RAM for light daily tasks like listen to internet radios, stay in contact with messengers without the struggle of typing on virtual keyboards, and so on. Of course, also to mess around a bit with Linux from time to time. With a good monitor and sound system is just wonderful. I have my music and still can chat comfortably whatever I'm doing on my work computer: keeping it very busy with a large database or rebooting or something. Plus, gives me the feeling of separation between the real work and the ambiance and the plans for lunch.
I appreciate the most that the Raspberry makes no noise (I use it without a fan, just passive cooling) and it's fast enough for those tasks to keep me happy. -
