70s after-school joy!

I loved them so much. I saw all their Eps so many times. We were very lucky in Oz that our ABC played them year after year.
Some of the comments mention other seminal tv shows of that era that i also adored.
You?
-
@Steffie I was an eckythump brown belt!
-
@TbGbe Glorious, wasn't it? Simply glorious!
-
The Goodies were great fun, like a slimmed down version of Python. I think they worked with the Python lot on radio in the 60s.
For after school joy can I throw in Rentaghost... did you get that in Oz?
And Blakes 7 for pure utter Saturday evening sc-fi joy. Absolutely loved that show.
-
@jtid And for sci-fi "kitch" Space 1999.
-
@TbGbe But it didn't sound kitsch at all in the '70s (I'm a huge fan of Gerry & Sylvia Anderson productions). Also Logan's run, a little outdated todayβ¦
@Steffie I remember watching Here come the double deckers (I was a child back then) and of course Thunderbirds (produced in the mid 60s but aired here in the 70s)

i was a typical 70s little boy...flares and i rode a chopper lol
-
@TbGbe 1999 was great... also original Battlestar Galactica and Buck Rodgers In The 25th Century lol... lots of cheese to go around!
-
As child I see the Hiram Holiday series. https://youtu.be/gqUoRUtxdkk (original advertisings include)

@Catweazle I always liked Wally Cox. He was quite underrated i suspect.

Indeed afaik the three of them did a lot of writing with several of the pre-Pythons, ergo the very similar sensibility. I knew The Goodies before i learned of & became a mad fangirl of Python, & would posit that it'd probably be quite unlikely that one could like TG & not MP, or vice versa. Then, if one does indeed like those, then probably one also likes The Goons, Cook & Moore, et al.

Not when i was still in its target demographic, no. According to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rentaghost:
A pilot for an Australian version of the series was filmed in 1989, five years after the end of the original series
By then, i was 6 years post-Uni & with a very busy work & personal life happening, so til now i'd not known of this show at all.

Blakes 7
...occurred during Uni, & though i certainly knew of it i never watched it. I think probably it was just that i had far too much going on then, rather than any adverse implication for the show itself.
