User Agent switcher {Kindle Fire}
-
Just how would a web server get the information about whether the browser is the default or not? That information is not in the user-agent.
-
@Streptococcus , Android is Google, in Android Chrome is the default browser until you download Vivaldi from Google Play and make it default. With this Google know that his Chrome in Android isn`t default.
In Pc you can spoof this, in Android I doubt it. -
@Catweazle Yes I have just told the support agent exactly that.
-
@Catweazle On the Kindle the default browser is Silk (made for/by Amazon), not a bad browser actually, but no Vivaldi. I've never had an issue before leaving Silk as the default and V as a secondary.
No luck using V as the default even after Power Off/Power On. -
@greybeard , Amazon abuses its position like Google and like this, it tracks your activity on the network. This is why I would never use Amazon products.

@Catweazle I agree to a point. when I Government Agencies, Health Departments, Doctors, Educators having to put files on patients/students on what is essentially google drive I get livid.
I have to pick my battles and that is mine. -
@nomadic @Gwen-Dragon now I have a gmail link and can get there easily from my Speed Dial, sync'd to my Kindle.
-
@Gwen-Dragon Yes. Its not really a Vivaldi issue, although it may become one once M3 for android is introduced.
But we'll deal with that later. -
@Catweazle Vivaldi APK downloaded from Vivaldi site and set as default browser.
No access to google play as this is not a supported device and I will not download the google play store
Not google product
Not really Android, but a custom build much like Vivaldi is not chrome.
#chrome, Not on my Device -
@greybeard , if I had root access and my low-end mobile would support another OS, it would also not have the Play Store and Chrome still present in the system (although deactivated as maximum that me is allowed to do)

Sorry for the delay in replying, just saw your post and questions.
The error come up after installing the official Outlook for Android from the Amazon store then trying to Add New Account > @gmail.
I first get a message to update my browser to google chrome, then I get the 403 error.
Not sure if it MS & google fighting or Amazon having something to with all this.
I can add the gmail account to the default email client on the Kindle(?) so why is there an issue with Outlook?
But as I said, this is not really a Vivaldi issue. Please do not waste any time, you are busy enough.
I will fight it out with MS, Amazon and google. -
