I'm generally a slow reader, but I like it! I find some interesting books here

Jules Verne - Le pays des fourrures (The fur country)
-
Albert Sánchez Piñol - "COLD SKIN"
PS: ignore the ratings and give this small book the chance it deserves... it also has a well-done movie now!

I'm generally a slow reader, but I like it! I find some interesting books here. Recently, I've found myself slogging through a whole host of books that really didn't click with me. From stylistic woes, to too-dense prose, from boring plots, to maybe just a personal thing, I've spent the last month reading books I didn't like. Therefore i cant write good essay for my university. But i find brill assignment may by they can help me. I picked up each title expecting to love it, yet every page started to feel like a chore. As a result, I read less often, prolonging my agony.

It may sound strange, but now I'm reading a children's book about Tom Sawyer and find those aspects that I did not notice when I first read this book as a child. https://studydriver.com/tom-sawyer-essay/ helped me broaden my understanding of the text. Imagine banning a book and disregarding its significance based on the softness of present day society. Well, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer was banned because throughout the book, derogatory terms were directed at black people. The language used in writing reflects the culture of its time.

@Gabandis That doesn't sound weird. It's obvious to me.

I just wonder why we could always read a book in our childhood and not understand it so much. Then, when you re-read a book with a new level of experience, you realize it much better and deeper.
