Mardock Scramble - Tow Ubukata
Novel, English translated from JapaneseA messy, gritty, Sci-Fi story. Verbose and at times a bit long winded for my taste, but it definitely pulls together in the final third act. Good characters. Kind of a mad story.
I'd give it a 4 out of 5.

MM9 - Hiroshi Yamamoto
English translated from Japanese (I did sense a few minor discrepancies in the translation, but overall it was good).
This gets a 5/5 from me. It's not long, I finished it in a day, and its a fun but well-grounded collection of kaiju (big monsters attacking everything) stories. I like the attempt that meshes Sci-Fi, philosophy and religion to explain the monsters and the way this world is set up to handle their presence. -

Orbital Cloud by Taiyo Fujii
A very good action/spy thriller novel with high concept sci fi space technology. Makes for a very good read on both the sci-fi and thriller side. Good, believable characters. I think this would be well adapted to a film. -

Toh EnJoe - Self-Reference ENGINE
This is a really strange story. It's a compendium of shorter stories, all linked in certain ways, with a really long winded and in places surprisingly funny telling. But at times it gets to be a bit too much to read easily.
