Transit to Vivaldi
-
Hi all. I'm completely new to Vivaldi (which i discovered thanks to a footline of a blog of Ruari - How to bring h264 to Opera). So, please forgive if my questions are ingenuous (i'm using Devuan, a systemd-free fork of Debian): 1) Is there a way to add Vivaldi to the repositories (/etc/apt/sources.list - or so)? 2) How to import passwords and bookmarks from PaleMoon (Firefox fork) and/or from Opera developper? In the Settings > Privacy > Passwords sections it's not clear to me, how to make show up the passwords; is that possible? 3) Is there a way to integrate adress field and search field (=Safari style, or, in FF, omnibar)? 4) Does there exist a Vivaldi cousin for mobile? Or, if not, is there some easy way to synchronize with other mobile browsers? 5) Would the way to add h.264 to Opera (described by Ruarì in the blo quoted above) work for VIvaldi too? What would be the needed adaptions? (May be there will arise other questions, but in this very moment, Vivaldi looks really smart and esthetically very nice to me) Thanks a lot in advance for your patience!

1. Vivaldi is self-added to most repos when you install it. Don't know about all of them, just the .deb ones.
2. Menu/File/Import
3. The address field is already an omnibar. Just make sure its ability to incorporate search is turned on in settings. You can also turn off the search bar there, if you don't want to see it.
4. No mobile version yet. Probably not soon.
5. Ruari's h.264 solution is designed to work for Vivaldi. If you have Chrome installed on your system, Vivaldi ought to find all of the plugins and use them anyway. But if not, Ruari's solution should work.

Thanks a lot for the quick reply. Some specific questions as for adding h264 capabilities. In http://ruario.ghost.io/2014/12/19/adding-h-264-video-support-to-opera-for-linux/ Ruarí says:
Build FFmpeg
To build FFmpeg, input the following:
./configure –build-suffix=-opera
--enable-shared
--disable-programs
--disable-doc
--disable-debug
--disable-encoders
--prefix=/tmp/opera-ffmpeg
make installI presume, i should substitute in the make configure opera by vivaldi, correct?
Then
Install FFmpeg
To install the compiled libraries, issue the following—on distros where sudo is not configured, use root:
sudo cp -Pv /tmp/opera-ffmpeg/lib/.so /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/opera/lib
Note: For Opera beta and developer, 32-bit systems or non-standard installs, check the install location—listed in opera://about—and adjust "/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/opera/lib" accordingly. As far as i see, there are no vivaldi libs in /usr/lib but vivaldi installs to opt. So the directory whereto the compiled libraries should be installed is /opt/vivaldi-snapshot/? Or should it be /opt/vivaldi-snapshot/lib? The latter i presume … (?)
As for mobile: Not that much of a problem, if a mobile version is missing (i'm using orfox anyway most of the time on mobile ), but my questions points rather to a (the) possible way to do an easy bookmark (and possibly: pswd sharing between desktop and mobile). Is there any, outside of using some cloud solution? Since Vivaldi seems to be a cousin of opera one could use opera syncing, eventually?
Thanks a lot for your patience!

Create a fake main Opera mainline profile and move the file to the appropriate folder in it.
