@Shpankov said in Minor update (5) for Vivaldi Desktop Browser 6.7:
Can you, please, start from the clean profile with default settings and then step by step repeat this bug?
Of course I can, here is the latest Vivaldi, I just downloaded it - version 6.7.3329.31
What I changed in the settings:And created ANY password so that the router would display a window with the question “Update password”
I get what I got before:
What am I doing wrong?)
-
@Capushon We know about some multi-monitor setup where such can happen.

With the same version, the same settings, Windows 11 - can't reproduce:

Are you sure you don't use any Vivaldi mods or CSS corrections?
Why you have default search DDG on screenshot? Russian version have Yandex by default. -

I have Windows 10, system scaling is 100% (as MS recommends)
Are you sure you don't use any Vivaldi mods or CSS corrections?
Absolutely. As I said, I checked it on the latest stable one, which Ruarí published a few hours ago.
Also, don't you know that custom CSS doesn't work with Chromium windows?

VPN in router

Absolutely.
Thus, you need to provide more details that can help in reproducing this problem.
How it works in other cases? For example - on vivaldi.net authorisation?
Also, if you really need help, please, use a bit more gently tone.

Am I the only one who needs this? I have already shown that I can correct the translation and there will be no problem...
please, use a bit more gently tone.
Please quote, I don't understand...

Unfortunately, all other testers can't reproduce the same behaviour. And it's not a translation issue. Looks like there are some local conditions impact to the browser work.

For Chromium and others - these “local conditions” have no effect, maybe because the texts there are shorter and do not change the window geometry?

Finally, I was able to reproduce this bug - using German translation:
Thus, as I said, it's a design issue. Will inform colleagues.

Great job!

What can they do, the width of the input fields is not set in the Vivaldi interface, but in the Chromium files, and the command doesn’t seem to make any changes there?
If you shorten the name of the second button, there will be no problem.

I could not reproduce it because i never got such update password popup in English and German UI.
But, good, Shapnkov found it.//EDIT:

This needs more testing for all languages we have in UI.

Yes, a rare bug, if you always use saved passwords with auto-login, you may never see this error.
-
@Capushon A good point! Other settings and usage, other issues.
Thanks for telling us. -

The second button should not be longer than the input fields (the name stretches it). And the window closing cross also serves as a guide.
It is easier and faster to change texts than to make changes to the window code. (imho)
-
@Capushon You see a window closing button (the X)!? Me not, on Windows 11.
UI design is broken on this popup. -

In Windows 10 there is a close button, in all Chromiums. You can see it above in my picture.

The problem is more complex than it seems.
First: it's a dialog design bug. And the most correct way to fix it - change the dialog code.
Second: it's a Chromium dialog. Thus, the right way - Chromium developers should fix it. Thus, will be much better to send bug-report to Chromium team (and better you will do this - user's report can have more attention than competitor's report).
Third: if our developers will fix it on the our side - we will be forced to fix the same regression every stable Vivaldi version until Chromium developers will fix it.
Forth: Your suggestion - change the translation. But these strings are not from Vivaldi - it's also Chromium strings, we do not translate it. And replacing original string for our own translation is the same as changing the dialog code - every Chromium version update will have a regression that we will need to fix every stable version.
Thus, the most correct way - fix it on the Chromium side.
So, please, send bug-report to Chromium - it's the most correct step in the current situation.

@Capushon Please report that Chromium issue with translation files and broken password save popup at https://issues.chromium.org/new and report back here the link of your report, so Vivaldi can add to bug tracker until Chromium upstream fixed it.
