Command Chain to emulate keyboard shortcut
-
Hey all! I discovered Vivaldi a few months ago after looking for a better integrated web experience and I love it! Keep up the good work! I'd like to request a new Command Chain command to emulate a keyboard shortcut. I know that this could be hard to implement and a little backwards, given that kb shortcuts generally initiate CCs, but hear me out!
Now I realize the main point of Quick Commands is to run sequential commands, but I'm also using it to add custom buttons to my toolbars. I'm a mouse heavy user and like having buttons for common tasks available. I only use the keyboard occasionally for small amounts of data input and shortcuts. Having to take my hand off the mouse to type a keyboard shortcut slows my workflow.
While searching on the forums, I noticed different requests for items to be added to the CC. Some of these (like the New Window button option I came here looking for) have keyboard shortcuts that can be set in the keyboard settings. Allowing a kb shortcut as a CC would allow all functions that you can set a keyboard shortcut for to be added as buttons. Obviously you don't want every keyboard shortcut as a button, and I'm not sure how that would work with some of them, but it would expand the functionality of Quick Commands significantly in one go.
As an extension of this, I propose making any keyboard shortcut available to add to a CC, including system shortcuts. You could have a button for Alt+Tab and initiate your window switcher with a click. You could set a keyboard shortcut in your system desktop environment and run a custom script. It would improve your desktop workflow if you're a mouse-heavy power-user like myself.
Thoughts?
