a search engine might be eco friendly but selected result not....right ?

Just wondering :
The search engine might be Eco friendly but after selecting site on their page the benefit is gone because the page you want is on a different server.
So you are only "being green" when on the search engine and after that who knows ?
Am I right ?
If not PLEASE explain, this question is on my mind for days now, and I can not seem to be able to find an answer -
@avds2708 Some search engines say they use part of their ad revenue to plant trees - the more you search there and see ads, the more trees get planted. Some sites be using a green power source - when you use those sites you are not contributing as much towards climate change.
Yes, when you leave these sites and go to another you are dependent on that other site also having its own green policy if you want to be 100% green, but any one site can't have control over others like that.
