New Version Set Up Problem
-
I have been using Vivaldi for some time now since it was in beta. I was eagerly installing new releases immediately. Not so much any more. When I get a new version of Vivaldi loaded and running, I import all my bookmarks and get those set up with a Bookmarks Bar. Then I set my home or start page. After that I make other cosmetic changes to get Vivaldi just the way I like it. Then I shut down my computer for the night and next morning I come back to Vivaldi and it's back to its original configuration. Isn't there some where that Vivaldi stores my changes and gives them back when I start up the browser a second time? I'm ready to delete this browser if it keeps dumping my settings and ignoring how I want it to work.

This is the first time, to my knowledge, that a complaint of this nature has been seen. Is there anything atypical about your setup that could cause this - like a different location than normal for your "Default" folder? If Vivaldi can't find the Default folder, it creates a new one in the location where it expected to find it. Hence. all of your personal data and settings would appear to become lost.

Thanks for the quick response. I have turned this in as a bug, but I never get any responses.
I load Vivaldi just like I load any other web browse on my iMac using El Capitan. I have noticed that my imported bookmarks are actually still showing under the Tools > Bookmarks > setting, but my preference for my Bookmarks Bar has changed back to the Vivlade default which does not load my bookmarks as I want. The appearance of Vivaldi also reverts back to it's original appearance as well as to the original start page even though I had previously change it.
I kind of get tired of having to go back and re-do all my changes to Vivaldi after every update. Somethings not working right.

Something is definitely not working right, but I probably can't help, as I know nothing about Macs. However, given that no one else, ever, has complained of this problem, it's possible that the Vivaldi developers are unable to address it, because they can't replicate it. There are any number of kinds of security software that prevent changes to files on the hard drive. I wonder if you might have such on your machine?

It did it again! Dang! I just started up Vivaldi after shutting my iMac down for the night and now Vivaldi is back to it's original settings. My start page is gone as are my bookmarks and the bookmark bar that I want to use.
So, that's it. I'm not going to be using Vivaldi until someone gets this fixed. It's very frustrating. It's back to Chrome, FireFox, and Safari. See, I have lots of choices other than a non-working Vivaldi. Too bad, because I kind of like it.
