Paste & Go ignores choice of search engine and uses the default
-
I've searched and can't see this mentioned anywhere, but if I have Bing set as my default search engine this is what is used to perform my search in the address bar, even if I want to search in (say) Wikipedia by typing something like "w " then paste & go "vivaldi". I'm currently using Vivaldi on Windows XP but I'm pretty sure I have the same problem on the latest version I have on my Windows 7 computer at my office. It works (or doesn't) the same whether I choose past and go from the context menu in the address bar, or use the keyboard shortcut. I changed by default search engine to Google and now that is the one used for all custom searches in the address bar, which (for me) defeats the object of being able to set them in the first place. I can type "W " then TYPE my search term and it correctly searches Wikipedia, but more often than not I want to search for something I've copied to my clipboard and Paste & Go then lets me down.

P&G is still far from perfect.
IMO aside the obvious Mail Client and Sync is still the feature improvement that I'm waiting more.
Anyway CTRL+Shift+V should be already working on search box. Not a perfect solution but at least a viable workaround.

Do you mean the search box to the right of the address bar when you first install Vivaldi? As in Opera, that's the first thing I remove when I start to customise things.
Oh well, thanks for taking the time to answer and confirming it's a known issue. Things can only get better - I'm still liking Vivaldi and the feeling of being in familiar surroundings I get from this community.
The mail client, too, is an absolute MUST for me, but I've never needed to use sync before so I'm not missing that. I did try Opera Link (i think that was its name) when it first appeared but that was a long time ago - maybe now I use a greater number of different computers I'll give it a spin if/when Vivaldi add it.

You should really reconsider that. No matter if P&G will be fixed soon or late.
It's still one of the best Opera and Vivaldi features, and for the time being will work to meet your P&G needs.
