Workspaces – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 2970.3
-
one option I am missing is, that I would want the pinned tabs to be kept, no matter what workspace I switch to. Those Tabs simply live in my browser and should always be visible, even on seconday workspaces.
-
The "switch to specified workspace" option should be added when the browser is started.

@doctorg: I saw the snapshot part. I should have paid more attention but I checked for an update. I'm assuming the snapshot is like a beta version or pre-release. I'll go look. Sorry about that but the good news is it's working now. Startup page setting (I'm a dummy)

@smaciver
Hi, if you want to test the snapshot, it is a beta build, don´t install it over your stable install, please.
Use the standalone install:Cheers, mib

@b-iggy: thanks for the info. I took a look at Edit 2 but don't think it relates to what I was having an issue with. I did however recreate the steps you detailed and sure enough those tabs were gone. But I'm not even sure what that means and I'm also not on this snapshot rather 5.7. You expect the tabs to still be there I assume. Setting the startup page setting to 'last session' fixed my issue with tabs disappearing from workspaces when closing vivaldi and reopening. Simple goof.

@mib2berlin: oh my god i should have checked. I just installed it but was wondering if it would be a separate install package. DAMMIT Thanks for trying.
I'm going to download it and see if I can get back to where I was then do it right. I know better...

Can someone test if undocked developer tools have no title bar?
P.S. Sorry for the repost (https://forum.vivaldi.net/post/654261)

@smaciver
The problem is it overwrite your user data, it is not recommended to downgrade Vivaldi.
You can downgrade, Vivaldi work but if you get issues in the feature you will never know where it come from.
You can work with the snapshot, it is mostly stable.
When the next stable is published you can change back to stable, it is mostly never than the snapshot at this time.Cheers, mib

@ruarí: Thank you; this is perfect. Prefer it on the right and in the nav bar.
You cannot believe how workspaces have improved my workflow. Thank you again!
-
Thank you for implementing this feature that I have been eagerly anticipating for a long time.
-
Once created I cannot delete a workspace. Is anyone able to verify?
-
@mib2berlin: thanks for the help. I know I've done it before as you suggested but totally forgot lol. I'll run like this and wait for the stable release. No sense in going through the trouble if i'm not having issues with the snapshot. Thanks again. Take care.

@g_bartsch open the workspaces list, right click the workspace you want to delete, and select delete option

I have tested this for a while and encountered two crashes when adding multiple tabs to a workspace. However, after restarting the app, the newly added tabs in the workspaces still there.
It would be more efficient to switch between workspaces with just one click, similar to Opera's feature. Can we also have a separate panel that lists all workspaces in the side panel?

@prime23
Hi, what do you meant with "Multiple" tabs, I use 10-15 tabs per workspace and no crash since a few weeks.
Do you meant separate to the windows panel?
As workaround you can use Ctrl+Shift+1, 2, 3 ... to change between workspaces.Cheers, mib

@mib2berlin
I'm referring to the act of organizing tabs within a workspace. I experienced two crashes while attempting to move tabs from a saved session into a new workspace. The process involved creating a new workspace, opening the saved session in another window, selecting over 20 tabs and dragging them into the new workspace. However, Vivaldi disappeared during this action(workspace saved as I said above).In another instance, I encountered another crash when trying to move Edge profile's tabs into a new Vivaldi workspace by repeatedly creating new tabs, pasting URLs and hitting enter.
Regarding panels, I suggest having one icon for each workspace in the side panel without any right-click or second-level menu options.
Thank you for suggesting your switch method; I will give it a try.

@prime23
I guess it would be interesting for the developer to get the crash log, those cases are may not tested much.
Depends on your platform they are created different, simply open help pages with F1 and search for crash.
This take some of your time but would be really helpful for all Vivaldi user.Cheers, mib

To move a Tab Stack to a Workspace, you use the "Move Tab Stack" item near the middle of the context menu. But, to move multiple Tab Stacks, you use the "Move 9 Tabs" (for example) item near the top of the context menu. This difference is disorienting. Should this be a feature request or bug report?
