Option to always load external content
-
This option is critical. It should have been built into Vivaldi years ago. Kindly provide this feature on priority.

@amsharma
Hi, there was a feature request about but it was closed because low user votes after a few Years.
Iirc the request was tagged as "Want do" from the Vivaldi team anyway.
The Vivaldi team sets priorities here if security is involved, we as user can vote for requests.Cheers, mib

There isn't much point in using Vivaldi mail if we can't get external content to load globally. It shouldn't be that difficult to fix. I realize the need for privacy but my email clients I have linked to Vivaldi already has spam filtering features and security features. This feature should be left to the user. There are a lot of features that make Vivaldi superior this would make it better. BTW my mail loads slowly after I delete one and move to the other.

This is an absolute deal breaker for me.
No option to show external content by default, makes the whole application an invalid choice for our organisation.
-
At least allow all external content from people in your addressbook then?
-
Please allow loading of external content.

This option is already available in the latest version. However, you have to click it every time even for emails that are from the same sender address. The option "Always Allow [email protected]" doesn't work because the next time I get an email from the same sender I have to click Load External Content again to see all the images.
I've opened a bug for this: VB-111946

Can you confirm:
-
when selecting Always allow
<Sender's Email Address> and then Load External Contact, as highlighted below :
that the contact is:- created if it did not already exist in Contacts
- its Always allow external content in emails option is automatically selectd in Contacts, as highlighted below:

@yojimbo274064400 I didn't know the contacts are what keeps track of what external content to load or not load. I've deleted some after allowing external content so that explains why it wasn't being allowed anymore. I was looking for an option for that but I just didn't expect to see it inside Contacts. Thanks for explaining this. We can close the bug then.

Please note that the fundamental reason for not loading images automatically (and not allowing it to be configured) is a type of images called "beacons".
These can do a number of things, for example:
- Detect if (and when) the email has been opened -> Email is valid, send MANY more emails as spam, or take action because "you did not read that email"
- Special server configuration of the loading loading can detect HOW LONG the email has been viewed
- They can track your location based on IP address.
So, if you allow everybody to load images, spammer, employers, governments, and others can track your email activity.
Note that this functionality has also been used in PDFs.
