Fixes and improvements – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 2914.3

@Zalex108 then you're braver than me…
LE: I'll stick a while with Vivaldi 5.7.2901.3 x64 till I change my old PC to a newer one with Windows 10 or 11…
-
Thank you for the update.

At the moment just faced one site asking me to update the browser.
It was a test site so not a problem.
Let's see in the next days.
I've been thinking to modify the User agent, it may work and keep working on old Chromium version.I did a W11 install but it's a waste of time setting it up being my W7 installs are configured since long without problem and whiteout any special need since years.
W11 here needs the extra time to fix problems related to old HW aside from the tipical set up.
At least, many .Reg files from W7/10 still works on 11.
You would start Backing up every single small set up to apply it to Your new System in case of Windows if not done so yet.
Despite some settings would be not replicated.

@michael_from_germany: Use "Filter invert" from Vivaldi Page Actions. Easy and fast. And it works fine.
Hey, Bettybop.
I can't find "Filter invert". Although I have found it through assigning a keyboard shortcut (?)
is too "drastic" (invert the images as well, which is quite "undesirable"). Why did the "Dark Reader" extension stop working, is it a "problem" with this Snapshot or has Chrome changed its policy? An extension to translate the pages does not work either. -
Could be anything the reason why now it has stopped working. But you have a quick alternative...
BTW, for translation I use Im Translator and it works really fine. I always have problems with the in-built translator, it still needs some work I guess... (it fails to translate some pages, it freezes or translate only a part of the webpage etc...)

Hi.
You do not have access to the chrome extensions, through the link given in "vivaldi://extensions/". The typical dead bird appears.
I have problems going to certain pages, when from other browsers, at the same time, I can access them.

Hi,
Have you checked on a Clean Profile?

First stepHi, Zalex108
What is a "clean profile"? What is involved? It means to log out?

Step #3
https://help.vivaldi.com/desktop/troubleshoot/troubleshooting-issues/I installed the version Vivaldi.5.6.2867.62, which has also been released today, the problem with the pages, and the redirect from vivaldi://extensions/ to the extensions, has disappeared.
From my experience when working with the profile, it is quite "delicate" on some occasions i have lost data (bookmarks, search engines). Now I don't trust so much in saving the profile and I do it as before. Saving sensitive data such as bookmarks on my own.

Actually,
Despite the AutoUpdate commodity, the best is toCheck the Blog for new updates
Backup Profile if new
Update ManuallyIn case of error/bug
Check on a Clean Profile
If there happens,
Report it. -
I'm noticing that Vivaldi isn't notifying anymore when downloads are completed. Anyone else have the same problem?

@iAN-CooG
No, but I am on Linux atm.:Cheers, mib

Widows 7 x64 not worked! Why is the version of the windows operating system not checked during installation?
-
Hi, user of a beta software should read the change logs.

question: the automatic update installs anyway for win7 users? I hope not.

Youtube resolution 480p or lower not playing video is a Chromium 110 issue

@iAN-CooG
Hi, if one have auto update activated yes, I fear.
I have disabled it on all of my snapshot installs but it would be much better when the installer check the OS version and block the install on not supported OS versions.
I hope they implement this for the next stable Vivaldi/Chromium 110 release, iirc there are about 10% Windows 7-8.1 user using this old crap.Cheers, mib
