This is a great browser

I posted this on Reddit r/vivaldibrowser but also wanted to share these thoughts here. I was a Chrome user for a very long time but with the Manifest V3 changes and overall lack of customizability combined with Google's data harvesting I decided to try to diversify the services I use as I was heavily in the Google ecosystem. I moved from GMail to Fastmail and I initially switched from Chrome to Firefox. Firefox however didn't really meet my needs, it felt very heavy and slow and it was missing some creature comforts such as built in webpage translations and Progressive Web App support. I could use extensions for these things but I shouldn't have to. I then tried Brave, Brave met my needs but I really couldn't reconcile their product with their moral shortcomings. Their CEO is a known bigot and conspiracy theorist and the way they push cryptocurrency is just unethical. I wasn't able to reconcile this with their browser which for the most part is pretty good. When I first tried Vivaldi I was overwhelmed by the vast array of features, but after using it for about a month and then trying Brave again within a day I was back to Vivaldi. Web Panels are really the greatest thing ever, and Quick Commands make keyboard navigation so easy! I recently started using tab stacking as well today and it's really a great feature. I don't think I will be able to go back to Chrome or Firefox after I started getting used to the features provided by Vivaldi. I can't compliment the Vivaldi team enough, not only for their sustainable business model that preserves user privacy and their stance against Cryptocurrencies but also that they are really good digital citizens and take a pragmatic approach to making the web better. I'm really happy with this product, for such a small team they even fix bugs quickly too! It's great that they can make this product, keep the lights on, and not turn the users into the product through data harvesting like every other tech company!
