Further address bar fixes – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 2887.3
-
@iAN-CooG I'm aware of those but @beholder4096 seems to be specifically referring to "deleting the last character before the caret"
-
Why status bar became thicker?
-
I lost all of my tabs from before the update, including my pinned tabs.
It's also not opening at my pinned shortcut on my Windows 10 machine. Instead, it's opening past my pinned shortcuts.
-
Oho, was no one going to mention this nifty new experiment?
EDIT: Oh! The blog's main photo suddenly makes so much sense!
-
@AltCode Interesting... the theme button editor indicates that there is a "chat" panel button (it currently uses the same icon as the mail toolbar send button), yet that panel is not present in either the panel toolbar or the toolbar editor
What is the Vivaldi Team planning
-
@mtaki14 Yes. Sometimes I need to write in caps and I hold shift while writing. Then when I quickly want to do backspace it does not work.
It's just weird it does not work because it works everywhere else on Windows: text editors, messengers, even windows explorer, etc. Everywhere shift+backspace does the same thing as backspace | except Vivaldi where it does nothing.
-
@mtaki14 in essence: holding shift should not disable backspace functionality in address bar
-
@vort: Maybe because the Address Field can now fit better in the status-bar? Since it was possible to position that into there, I had it there and finally it didn’t fit anymore. Now it does, and get rid of the Navigation-Bar on top again.
-
@Thot However, this only happens with the e-mail panel.

Thanks for clarifying the problem. This does indeed look like a bug.
But it's not a regression in this Snapshot, looks like it was broken in 5.2 - it works in 5.1. It's also not related to the fix for Ctrl+Backspace in this release.
It's important you report such issues to the tracker when you encounter them so the team can fix it.
Please read:
carefully and report the bug to Vivaldi bugtracker

I know, pretty cool stuff - nice find!
No more SVG path hacks to change iconsAlso they'll probably have to scale back the ambitions for that file selector
It certainly does not with ICO/TIF files from a quick test.
Also pretty funny: It shows my modified SVG path for the extensions toggle, not the default "puzzle piece". So it must get it from the currently applied UI CSS which is kind of cool:
-
@Pathduck Indeed! It's also pretty amazing that this is will be per theme setting. I can't wait to see for the wacky & cool themes that will be made with this!
Though at the same time, I do wish it was also possible to set custom button icons globally. It'll be a pain to set up the exact same custom icon for multiple themes (in the cases where someone uses more than one theme, e.g. me, who has Vivaldi set up to use different themes at different times of the day).
-
@altcode: Custom icon sets are available to use on any theme from the dropdown menu
-
@atlemo Nice feature
-
https://themes.vivaldi.net/ will hopefully be updated to filter for themes that include custom buttons
-
Well if this isn't the coolest thing to play around with!
-
@Pathduck Oh my goodness! Vivaldi UI is going crazy.
-
@atlemo Oh, great! I hand't noticed. Though would it be possible to create a set that does not necessarily belong to any particular theme?
EDIT: Actually, on second thoughts, perhaps that's not really needed.

It seems like quick commands is now listing everything with a semicolon
Reported as VB-93939 (Quick commands shows every entry with a semicolon).
-
@AltCode was confirmed.
