It's quite paradoxical, but it takes Google 'Pixel' devices to completely ban Google from these devices.

        Already in!

I bought a Pixel 6A recently and I flashed it w/ GrapheneOS. Just final polishes, infrequently use apps, and all done!.

@ingolftopf I'm quite happy with the choice I made by buying the #Pixel6A to have #GrapheneOS, lots of good things and only a few concessions have to be made for security and privacy.

The bad thing is the apps, the most important (for me) is that I don't have the 360º mode and panoramics (GCam port) it doesn't show me the photos I've already taken. And I don't have a TTS engine that would be useful for GPS directions. I found a TTS engine without Google dependency, isn't the most awesome voice but is understable and in my language. (for OSMAnd+)

            Apart this, 💯% pleased:
Good pics, good battery life...good security, apps behind the line...sun is shinning and an user is happy, what else?😎

            Edit: Updated 25/01/23

Small note, "#Pixel6A", # is not necessary here, does not work here, only on Vivaldi 'Mastodon' https://social.vivaldi.net/

The 'Google Pixel 6a' is really a decent one despite being from Google.
It will be even much better with 'GrapheneOS'.

Is a Custom Rom a good idea, if you want to avoid Google stuff? That feels like tearing down and rebuilding a house, because you want to paint the walls another color.

This can only be meant ironically.

Unfortunately, GrapheneOS only works on Google 'Pixel' devices at the moment.
See the 'GrapheneOS' room on the open source messenger 'Jabber/XMPP':

For other Android devices you have to use another good custom rom.

Change some settings. Install non-Google alternatives to, for example, Google maps.
