Vivaldi -> Catalan version
-
Hello!
I use Vivaldi intensively both at work and on a personal level and I am very satisfied with the results achieved so far. But I (we) have a major problem with the translation into Catalan. I don't understand why this language is not included as a major language to choose and use the browser, and instead the community forces us to choose a language that is not ours (Spanish, French, English...). The Catalan community is important and powerful enough not to have to depend on another language. The reality is that the translation is already done and works, but you need to be a little handy to implement it correctly, and unofficially. Is there any reason that justifies it? There are many volunteers willing to take care of the translation (just do a search on the forum and you can see how selflessly several people have offered to help). Will we soon have good news in this sense? Catalan is an ancient language, widely used and loved by the inhabitants of Catalonia, Valencian Country, the Balearic Islands, Northern Catalonia and the Principality of Andorra, where it is the official language. It is also spoken in other places, such as some other areas of Spain, Italy and France.

@Rhyssa If you speak the interface language of the program, the localization (translation) work in Catalan is currently at 100%.
You can change the UI by selecting Catalan in the Settings page (requires restart).Sorry! realy Not in Settings.
You can Report a Bug to develepers

A feature request to add Catalan is in internal bug tracker: VB-80698 "Add Catalan to Vivaldi browser"

Thank you all for this quick response!

@Rhyssa UI translations depend on volunteers. The groundwork for Catalan (ca) seems to have been done.
Send a PM to join the team.
Yes! I have all my installations of Vivaldi in Catalan, and there is no error (that I have detected yet). It's an excellent job. Unfortunately I cannot join the team of volunteer translators. At another point in my life I have participated in such projects and I am a big fan of them, but right now it is not possible.

Thanks for checking and commenting here!
Indeed, Catalan is available, but it is not easy to implement, precisely because it cannot be chosen from the options where it should be.

Thank you very much for your comment! I have not been able to find any other reference to the Catalan translation. I am happy to know that the bug has already been identified and will be fixed soon.

Do we know what is the status of this topic? I know there are probably other priorities, but for me as a catalan user is quite sad that I can't choose my language in Vivaldi while I can do it in every other major browser. Also, because it's actually translated, it's just we are missing the option in Settings.
Thanks

@woonaval Request was acknowledged by Vivaldi translation team, but in internal tracker i do not see a progress. Thats all i know.

Have catalan users joined the Vivaldi Translation team?

It seems there's a small Team, at least mentioned on 2021.
Not sure right now about its activity. -
The roadblock with Catalan is that it's not a language supported by Chromium, so it's not as easy to add as many other languages. It requires lots of manual work and fixes, which the team can hopefully tackle soon.
