CSS UI Alterations. Change Width of Bookmark & Bookmark Toolbar Menu??

  • Hi. Life long (Phoenix) Firefox user here. New to Vivaldi and giving it a shot (in Linux). And there's a lot to like so far. Congrats on the work so far. Couple of things strike me and jar straight away (as they do on Firefox) is bookmark menu width being ridiculously wide (for me), fortunately in Firefox you install Stylish and use the following code and adjust the width to taste:
@namespace url(http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul); /* regular bookmarks menu / menu.bookmark-item, menuitem.bookmark-item { min-width: 200px !important; max-width: 500px !important; } / bookmarks toolbar folder dropdown menu */ #bookmarks-ptf toolbarbutton menupopup menuitem { min-width: 100px !important; max-width: 500px !important }
The browser picks it up and bingo! Alter the width. Unfortunately this doesn't work in Vivaldi and the style is not recognised in Chrome: https://userstyles.org/styles/4415/change-width-of-bookmark-and-bookmark-toolbar-menu According to the UI FAQ https://vivaldi.net/forum/all/3073-vivaldi-ui-customisations you can do it manually by editing custom.css but this doesn't seem to work either, I assume it's a formatting thing? How do I go about achieving what I want? Thanks.

  • Ook, so it turns out you can not alter the Chrome toolbar, period, and are basically stuck with what you are given. So you can't alter the width of the (toolbar) bookmark folders, menu drop downs irrespective.

    Question then. Does Vivaldi allow you to change (through straight UI customisation) toolbar bookmark folders (menu drop downs) width, at this point in it's development, or not?

    Clarification would be good, thanks.
