How can I restore my session after 'refreshing' my profile?
-
Hi, Vivaldi has again become ultra sluggish and I have to refresh my profile. I tested a fresh profile and yup, no sluggishness. (Is having to "refresh the profile" every couple of months really what the Vivaldi team thinks to be normal???)
I have a problem though. I had some 10 windows open with many dozen tabs each. How do I move this "current session" over to the new profile?
I've followed https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/10388/refreshing-or-cleaning-your-profile and have copied
Sessions
andSession Storage
to the new profile, but when I start Vivaldi it still starts out with a clean "welcome to Vivaldi" window. I see that it creates newSession_xxx
andTabs_xxx
files. Do I have to figure out which is the most recent and copy the contents of the files? Or is there a different trick? -
Ah, after some more mucking around I managed to move the session over. I was doing
cp -a Default-old/Session* Default
but one apparently has to first
rm -r Default/Session*
i.e. not copy the old sessions in but ensure the new sessions are deleted.

@vvsurfr Yes. You want to make sure the folders are not combined. I would be careful about that, though, as it is sometimes the contents of the Session folder that wrecks a profile. Sometimes a single tab.

@Walkerherzog This is not an issue. It is a question. And the question is answered within this topic.
