feature request: Full-screen mode toggle-button, or auto mode, for landscape viewing
-
I can phrase the feature I would like to see implemented by means of a user case. Namely:
As a user, I would like to have the tab bar in Vivaldi visible all the time while the phone is held vertically (portrait mode), but also be able to easily switch to full-screen mode (no tab bar, status bar, or even android status bar) when the phone is turned sideways (horizontal viewing, or landscape mode). Even better if the switch to full-screen mode when in landscape can be configured to happen automatically.
And a more detailed explanation of the rationale behind the request:
Most modern phones have very tall and narrow screens. So when they are held in portrait mode (vertically) there is enough room to keep the status bar and the tab bars always visible in Vivaldi, instead of letting the tab bar, for instance, automatically hide when scrolling down a page. Having all the tabs visible makes navigating between them much easier, and given the size of the screens, there is still more than enough room to see the page content.
In landscape mode, however, keeping the tab bar visible makes the remaining screen space not enough for comfortable reading. In that case, a new feature to turn full-screen mode ON, will be very handy. Even better will be an additional option like "auto full-screen in portrait mode".
Thanks for listening.
And I forgot to add: you can wait for users to vote on such a feature before deciding to implement it, but as the famous round-glasses CEO used to say "users don't know what they want until they see it". I believe this will be a very welcome addition to Vivaldi. Which by the way is the best browser around.
Thanks for listening.
Max.
