Drag tab to new window
-
I don't have multiple monitors but I often drag a tab from Opera up to the title bar to open it in a new window just so I can quickly Alt+Tab between that and whatever other tab I have open. Usually this is because I want to copy information from various parts of my new tab (often this is an email I'm reading) and paste it into a form somewhere.
It's really useful to be able to drag a tab out like this rather than switch between tabs open in the same window.

In Vivaldi, Tiling the two tabs would solve this problem, leaving you free to use the mouse as well as the keyboard.

I like having my browser windows full screen because I've only got an old laptop with a small screen still like clicking on a tab and dragging it up to the top and using alt+tab. I'm just an alt+tab kind of guy
It's not something I miss in Vivaldi at the moment because, as I said, I mainly do it to alt+tab between a web page and an email message. Hopefully by the time M3 arrives tab ripping will be included too.

I definately support this feature - I used it all the time in Opera and Chrome to juggle tabs between screens, and now after Join extension is finally working ( :woohoo: ) I would love to switch to Vivaldi full time, but this is big usability disadventage for me.

I also would really appreciate that feature. I need that for my work and and it would be really nice

As mentioned repeatedly in all of the other threads asking for this and in the Features Request category, this feature is under heavy development, is already in use in internal builds, and will arrive for public use as soon as it is ready. Thank you for your patience.

@Ayespy Any updates ? Its been over 3 years

@Jonatino This feature has been functional for years.

@Ayespy oh I must've been mistaken as to what this issue is reporting. My issue is that tabs that have been dragged off don't create a new window right away, so you are unable to use features like aero snap in windows 10 to control the size of the window until you stop dragging the tab.
Video example of Brave/Chrome vs Vivaldi behavior:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/18f4npftykcxqkh/2020-01-21_12-42-00.mp4In Brave/Chrome I can drag a tab off and snap it to the top of my desktop to maximize the window. This all happens in one single click/interaction/gesture because torn off tabs are treated as a real window. In Vivaldi, you need to drag the tab off, drop it anywhere on your desktop, grab the new window and then snap it.

@Jonatino Under the Menu button, under Help, is an option to report a bug. You should report this as a bug.
Fair warning, it may be very difficult to fix. Vivaldi windows are not native to the UI. That's one reason a Vivaldi tab drag has a delay in creating a new window. Other browsers use native IU elements to create their windows. Hence, they can use features like snap because their windows are PART of the UI. In Vivaldi, the window is an HTML object, which is why it is possible to make it so customizable/conformable, unlike other browsers. To try to integrate it directly into UI functions may be a challenge.
