change the location where emails are stored

similar to thunderbird profileManager, the ability to change the location where emails are stored, in order to allow those emails to be stored in an encrypted container.
this is important for security, theft, and unauthorized usage reasons.

That's for me one of the most puzzling design decisions regarding mail.
Allone that I would be forced to put my growing mail archive under AppData (in Windows) eating up my SSD storage makes me hesitant to consider Vivaldi Mail as my main email client.Or am I missing something in that respect?
-
The simple answer is the email client isn't really ready for release.
It still has some massive usability issues.For Basic users it's (almost) fine.
Anyone that needs more than a basic inbox will really struggle trying to use it.

@stercomm4 I install Vivaldi on an encrypted drive, so all of my email (and other potentially sensitive data) is protected.

AFAICS Mail's files are spread over the profile's root directory and a Mail sub-folder. A possible workaround then would be to move the profile directory to the encrypted device and create a symbolic link to it or, if your OS supports it, mount the encrypted device to the profile's root directory.

@Rich3w You're ignoring the answer. It does what you request — it changes the location where emails are stored.
Installing Vivaldi on an encrypted drive means that your mail is also installed on that same drive. This not only protects your email and contacts list, but also your browsing history and other potentially sensitive information about you.

@Pesala So to be clear, does installing Vivaldi on an encrypted drive use a profile (and hence the emails) on that encrypted drive rather than the usual Windows users folder?
Where does it store the profile on the encrypted drive?
Or did you use the standalone version.As an aside, there are reasons why the install may need separating from the email locations. Think of a network.
@stercomm4 @goedl
The best I've found is to move the entire profile to a different drive.

@Rich3w Use a Standalone installation.
I keep my custom speed dial thumbnails, custom CSS, Blog backup, exported bookmarks, etc., in the same folder.

You should have said installing the standalone version here.
Your reply clearly doesn't address the OP and the next reply's questions.

Using the Standalone version is an obvious workaround, not a solution.
My suggestion above of changing the profile location is a better solution to the OP's question. Although this forces this entire profile to be moved.
But it's a way better solution for networks and multi user systems.
Emphasis because you work on a single user system.
