Import passwords to Vivaldi / Export passwords from Opera 38

  • Hi there! For the last time, I used to use Opera Developer as my standard browser, but since yesterday I finally switched to Vivaldi. I could "restore" already all my configurations, i. e., bookmarks, speed dial etc. I’m just wondering how I can export all my stored passwords in Opera Developer (ver. 38.0.2198.0) and import them to Vivaldi. I have also still installed Opera 12.15, which I used to use a long time ago, too. Furthermore, I have Firefox and Chrome installed. So, is there a work around to import all my passwords from Opera 38 to Vivaldi? Thanks in advance about your help! Regards, Chipy

You can import the password with Vivaldi Latest Snapshot from https//vivaldi.net/
    Download it and Install Vivaldi.
In Vivaldi menu File -> Import Bookmarks and Settings
Select From: "Opera version 15+ Developer"
    Hit button "Start Import"

  • Hi Gwen-Dragon,

    thanks for your answer.
I had already updated to the newest snapshot version. Now I have installed version 1.1.453.36-1, but still there is no option you talked about. In "Import Bookmarks and Settings" I still can select everything (Firefox, Chrome, Opera 12.x, …) - except "Opera version 15+ Developer".

    Any further ideas?

I have Opera 38 Dev installed and can impoprt.
How did you have installed Opera DEV? As a USB install?

  • I'm running Kubuntu as OS.
So both - Opera developer & Vivaldi Snapshot are installed through the repositories.

Oh, yes for Opera 15+ DEV the entry for import is missing..

Reported bug as VB-16448 "[Linux] Import of Opera 15+ Developer missing"

    Backup (if you need it)
    .config/opera-stable
    .cache/opera-stable

For import you could copy the Opera DEV profile
    .config/opera-developer -> .config/opera-stable
    .cache/opera-developer -> .cache/opera-stable

import in Vivaldi with Opera 15+ menu

PS: i hope no strange program like kwallet will interfere this.

    Hi Gwen-Dragon,

thanks again for your fast answer.
    Unfortunately, I don't have a "opera-stable" - folder. :(

This are further informations I have about my old stable Opera:
    Version 12.16
    Build 1860
    Plattform Linux
    OS x86_64, 3.13.0-85-generic

These are the paths Opera 12.x used to have:
    /.opera/operaprefs.ini
    /.opera/sessions/autopera.win
    /.opera/bookmarks.adr
    /.opera
    /.opera/cache
    /.opera/opcache
    /.opera/mail
    /usr/lib/opera/plugins

Any further ideas, what I should copy from where to where?

    Thanks in advance!
    Chipy

    Copy .config/opera-developer to .config/opera
    Copy .cache/opera-developer to .cache/opera

    Sorry, my fault.

Strange, i tested, the import does not work from Opera Developer :(
Opera 38 DEV uses Chrome/51 and Vivaldi Chrome/50.x
I fear the Login databases are not compatible.

  • So it won't work…?

I apologize. I will investigate by asking developers.

  • @ Gwen-Dragon:
Thank you very much. I hope the developers will add this possibility very soon.
I can imagine, they're a lot of people switching from Opera DEV to Vivaldi in these days so it would be really great!
